Summary
Awakened Na Yubin (NYB) is a PVP-oriented frontline tank packed with various PVP-relevant gimmicks and utility. NYB is most known for his backline disruption, diving headfirst into the enemy backline to wreak havoc.
NYB’s Alternium Reactor addresses his long standing survivability issues by giving him +35% HP and halving the passive trigger condition from 12 hits to 6 hits. This greatly improves his PVP performance and propels him back into the meta as a potent frontline tank. Post-reactor, he is among the tankiest units in the game.
PVE Review
Although NYB is predominantly a PVP unit, he can still find some success in PVE as a walking health bar. This is not saying a lot, as “not dying” is the bare minimum expected of frontline tanks in PVE.
The majority of NYB’s kit translates poorly to a PVE environment. As a general frontline tank, NYB struggles to distinguish himself from the pool of stronger, cheaper alternatives.
PVP Review
Without his reactor, NYB is too squishy to perform his role as a frontline tank in PVP. With his reactor, NYB gains a significant boost to his survivability to the point where it puts him ahead of most other ASSR defenders.
NYB possesses a relatively simple kit being one of the earlier ASSR releases. Much of NYB’s PVP relevance is attributed to his post-reactor tankiness. NYB’s skills are practically useless but this is largely compensated for by his laundry list of passive effects. These are:
Dash attack: After receiving a number of hits, NYB performs a lunge that pushes him forward. NYB will constantly spam this attack. Paired with his bizarre target selection, NYB will frequently push himself deep into the enemy backline, disrupting the backline, dealing damage to squishy targets, and creating a massive headache for opponents trying to set up.
Barrier reflux: On deploy, NYB applies a mapwide 100% barrier reflux to all on-field enemies. With every dash attack, NYB applies 100% barrier reflux to nearby enemies. As one of two main sources of sustain across all comps, this passive frequently finds value.
Skill haste debuff: For as long as NYB lives, he applies a mapwide -30% skill haste debuff to all on-field enemies. Paired with other skill haste debuffs (e.g. New Ohio), this can create a massive skill haste gap.
Tower HP burn: As a character released at a time when towers were extremely oppressive, NYB was released with a passive mapwide %max HP burn against tower units. While NYB is not typically played in response to towers, he naturally skews those matchups in his favor.
As NYB is a frontline tank played primarily for his survivability, it is naturally difficult to counter a unit who’s entire purpose is not dying. That being said, NYB’s penchant for diving into the enemy backline is a double-edged sword, as it exposes him to a considerable amount of risk. When NYB dashes too far, he risks isolating himself from the rest of his team. If the team is not able to follow up on the space he makes, he can find himself alone, unsupported, and die shortly after.
