Review

Zodiac of Redemption Esterosa de Chevalier is a frontline damage dealer / tank hybrid. She has several gimmicks that distinguish her from other awakened defenders:

  • Esterosa can only be deployed once. This is a massive downside, but the rest of her kit more than makes up for it.

  • All of Esterosa’s damage scales with HP instead of ATK.

  • When taking lethal damage, Esterosa becomes invincible for several seconds before resuming combat with full HP. During the animation she is targetable, but cannot take damage. This resurrection is not a healing effect, so healing debuffs do not apply.

Even outside of those notable gimmicks Esterosa has a lot of going in her kit. Her stats are exceptional for the cost, she has a counter with a high uptime perfect evasion self-buff (100% uptime with 54% skill haste) and does a lot of damage. It is worth mentioning that most of Esterosa’s damage comes from follow-up enhanced attack after basic attack. This follow-up attack only happens after she revives through the passive skill or uses Ultimate skill.

Esterosa’s exclusive equipment set provides her with HP% latent. As all of her damage scales with HP, this is a significant boost to both her offensive and defensive capabilities. This makes her EE gear best in slot in the overwhelming majority of cases.

PVE Review

In PVE, Esterosa is played as a tank, damage dealer and even a counter bot. As she offers no offensive utility, in many cases Great Silence Ecclesia outperforms her as a part of a team, but that doesn’t make her less relevant. Esterosa found a place in all endgame content, including competitive Danger Close and Last Stand game modes.

PVP Review

In PVP, Esterosa’s defensive stats and revive make her an absolute monster. It is borderline impossible to play a team without Esterosa whenever she is free. Her stats are so high that she is not awful when banned.

Esterosa slows game pace down to a crawl. She can single-handedly beat all aggressive strategies, notably stopping Ais Wallenstein teams. This enables greedy slow win conditions, making units like Replacer Queen, Lin Xien and even Awakened Joo Shiyoon way stronger than they usually are.

As Esterosa ultimately is just a ball of stats, there is no real counterplay to her. Play Este vs Este mirror or lose.

Pros & Cons
Pros

  • Tank and a damage dealer in one unit

  • 12 DP worth of defensive stats that only costs 5 DP

Cons

  • Can only be deployed once

Gear recommendation
PVE gear

Set: Basic Attack DPS

Esterosa has no problems surviving most PVE content, but if she struggles 30% Anti-Ground DMG RES is enough to cap defensive stats.
