Review

You Branch Adept Heathcliff is an upgraded version of You Branch Sinclair, being an adept and all. His gameplay loop is to deal damage while burning himself down, as he gets rewarded for having low HP, essentially a berserker ID.

As usual, we will start with his always active Passive, which does the following:

  • Exalted command effect for Lord of Hongyuan Hong Lu, which gives extra Wrath damage on Gluttony base skills for the Heishou Bolus Contamination effect.

  • Cannot be staggered or drop below 1 HP due to Burn damage.

  • Gains Burn Count and Bloodflame on Substitute or Returns In. Bloodflame allows Heathcliff to inflict more Burn and Rupture Potency with base skills and SP heal upon staggering or killing an enemy. However, if he is at max SP, it will instead be Offense Level Up and Haste.

  • Safety belt to prevent Heathcliff from dropping below 1 HP once, and heal based on Burn Potency that also acts as a Burn cleanse.

Next, his normal Passive, which requires 5 Gluttony Owned, gives Offense Level and Defense Level Up based on missing HP. Furthermore, he can gain Battleblood Instinct, which translates to more damage and Haste for every 10 stacks. Battleblood Instinct is gained when meeting one of these conditions:

  • 3 Battleblood Instinct at clash start.

  • 1 Battleblood Instinct, when Heathcliff takes Burn damage or hits with a base attack skill, at 50% or less HP, he gains 1 more.

  • 5 Battleblood Instinct on kill.

Surprisingly, he gains Battleblood instinct relatively easily and quickly if he manages to score a kill, as all of his skills inflict self-burn, easily triggering at the very least 2 of those conditions every turn under normal circumstances.

Next, we will talk about his skills

  • Skill 1 - Peck ‘em - Base roll 11 - Max roll 14 - Clash 16 - An average Skill 1 for Season 6 standards.

  • Skill 2 - Mutilating Talons - Base roll 16 - Max roll 19 - Clash 21 - A pretty good Skill 2, harbouring 4 Coins total with great rolls. Due to how Coin reuse works, he can gain 3 Burn Count from this skill alone, coupled with an extra Wrath damage.

  • Skill 3 - Bloodflame Massacare - Base roll 16 - Max roll 24 - Clash 27 -  This skill does okay damage and is usually used to lower Heathcliff’s HP as it inflicts self damage based on Burn on self. When combined with the skill’s Burn Potency infliction, it can get his HP down to the 50% threshold. Heathcliff also gains Bloodflame from this skill, unlike You Branch Sinclair

  • Skill 3-2 - Rooster’s Rampaging Blades Under the Ensanguined Heaven - Base roll 17 - Max roll 25 - Clash 28 - Basically, the pay-off of having a lot of self Burn for this ID as it does a ton of damage spread across multiple enemies, while also healing Heathcliff on the last Coin. Heathcliff also gains Bloodflame from this skill.

  • Defensive Skill - More Grub For Us - Base roll 13 - Max roll 16 -  Used to kickstart both Bloodflame and self Burn.

Overall, You Heathcliff is a great and well-designed Berserker ID, focusing on self-Burn that actually works as a way to lower his own HP. Although he leans more into Burn, like You Branch Sinclair, his main advantage in Rupture teams is the amount of Coins he has to activate Rupture, which may require build-up before he enters the field. Aside from those two teams, he is actually pretty flexible in teambuilding.

Notable ID/Team Synergies:
  • Heishou Team: A fairly obvious choice, as a finished Heishou team involves Lord Hong Lu’s retreat mechanic while stacking Rupture infinitely, making full use of You Heathcliff’s amount of Coins

  • Burn Team: You Heathcliff, leans more into Burn as a status and currently has no other competing ID, being able to inflict quite a lot of Burn Potency and giving the much-needed Gluttony resource

Notable E.G.O Synergy:
  • Holiday - Heathcliff will always have a Negative Status on himself, so it is basically free +1 Burn Potency if the enemy has a positive effect.

Pros & Cons
Pros

  • Really good damage combined with good Burn potency.

  • Surprisingly flexible.

Cons

  • For Rupture, he is pretty bad early due to negative Count.
