Review
The Sword Sharpened with Tears Rodion is the 6th Walp exclusive ID with hybrid Charge and Sinking mechanics. Her main gimmick is quite similar yet unique compared to her QoH counterpart Don Quixote. Rodion can also flip between Positive and Negative Coins, but unlike Don, she has no means of being forced out of negative SP stance once she has locked into Negative Coin mode. However, it is a good thing since she cannot go below -40 SP without losing Clash, and the better parts of her kit are locked behind the Negative SP “stance“. To flip into that stance, you need to use your Defensive Skill once, after which she starts to lose SP actively. With more uses of Defensive Skill, she will lose more SP per turn and start to deal more damage, but that is a matter to discuss within the skillset. Her built-in passives, which are always active, describe all of the QoL features of this unit.
The first one provides you with the turn start activation of your stances. The positive one, Blessing, activates your Plus Coin skills, significantly increases the Sinking Potency application and provides you with Aggro and Defense Level Up.
Her Negative SP stance, Despair, is what the rest of her built-in passives are based around. First off, once she is below 0 SP, she starts using her Negative Coin skills, which roll higher, apply more Sinking and deal more damage. On top of that, she gains Negative Aggro, Offense Level and applies a large amount of Sinking count.
The QoL, which is built into the 2nd passive she has, is a one time Corrosion protection and prevention to lose SP below -40 due to her skills, status, and ally death.
Her last passive Increases Sinking potency in Negative stance, and adds a special interaction: when you stack 3 Tear-sharpened, the unique effect obtained from her Defensive passive will do the following:
On the next used skill, the final Coin of the said skill will inflict 3/3 Sinking, deal +50% damage and reset to +30 SP next turn.
Negative stance deals more damage and gains base power. This effect is kind of useless because it’s better to always be on 2 Sharpened Swords and gain solid buffs from it (5 Charge generation, +20% damage, 2 Clash power/2 Pierce power depending on stance and actively lose 30 SP to be always at -40 SP), and because of that, her future rolls will be calculated with that in mind.
Her sin passives, which cost 3 Gloom and 3 Pride, further buff stances:
Positive stance gives you even more protection and Clash Power.
Negative stance deals more damage and gains base power.
Positive Stance:
Skill 1 - Knight’s Sanctuary - Base roll 12 - Max roll 14 (Clash 18) - 2 Coins - Average 2 Coins Skill 1 with slightly below standard damage and strong Potency application due to the effects and no Count application.
Skill 2 - With The Power of Justice - Base roll 16 - Max roll 19 (clash 24) - 3 Coins - Another average 3 Coin skill 2 with high clashing ceiling and negative Sinking Count and decent Potency application. If you have 15+ Charge, she will boost her damage by 15%.
Skill 3 - Arcana Pierce - Base roll 17 - Max roll 25 (Clash 33) - 3 Coins - Yet again, an average Skill 3 in terms of rolls and high clashing that is neutral on Count, applies a lot of Potency on target and dealing a decent amount of damage by consuming all of her Charge with a half of the stack regain on kill.
Defensive Skill - Clashable Guard - The Knight’s Faith - Base roll 13 - Max roll 15 (Clash 17) - Her only way to gain the “Tear-Sharpened” status effect while also providing shield and 5 Charge Count.
Negative stance:
Skill 1 - Faded Faith - Base roll 10 - max roll 16 - 2 Coins - A very strong Skill 1 in terms of damage due to it being a Negative Coin skill that makes you lose 7 SP, is neutral on Count and applies a small amount of Potency.
Skill 2 - With the Tear-sharpened Sword - Base roll 16 - Max roll 22 - 3 Coins - Very strong Skill 2 in terms of damage that makes you lose 10 SP and is also positive on Sinking Count and deals a lot of damage at 15+ Charge.
Skill 3 - Arcana: Tear and Pierce - Base roll 20 - Max roll 31 - 3 Coins (reuse on 3 Tear Sharpened) - The reincarnation of N Corp Sinclair Skill 3 that deals an unreasonable amount of damage with all of the damage steroids it has due to all of her charge consumption in similar manner to Skill 3-1, and very positive on Sinking Count.
Defensive Skill - Clashable Counter - Weathered Pride - Base roll 12 - Max roll 17 - 2 Coins - Essentially the same as her Negative stance Skill 1, but also allows her to gain “Tears Sharpened” effect.
To conclude the skillset, the Negative stance is yet again more reasonable to be in than the Positive/Blessing stance, for which you need to use Defensive Skill 1-2 times, after which she starts to deal an unreasonable amount of damage and apply an even more unreasonable amount of Sinking Count.
Sinking - Her main team is Sinking, simply because of how much Sinking she applies and due to the fact that her main power conditions are tied to the Sinking stack on target.
Envy/Charge - While she can work there, she will be a background character to other strong Charge IDs.
Rime Shank - SP decreasing button that applies a lot of Sinking and has a very strong passive.
Absurd Sinking application.
Very strong damage.
Tanking/damage-dealing versatility.
No punishment for being negative SP.
Positive stance is underwhelming compared to the Negative one.
Sinking/Sanity decreasing enemies with unbreakable Coins exist.
