Review
The Ring Fauvist Docent Rodion (shortened to Ring Rodion) is a Bleed-centric ID with a touch of Sinking that utilizes the main gimmick of The Ring, which is to inflict as many unique negative status effects onto the enemy as possible. This is supported by the effects that the Fauvist brings, which are:
Mauled Color [Rouge] - This effect inflicts bonus Bleed Potency on hit (three maximum) and up to 2 Defense Level Down at the end of turns.
Mauled Color [Bleu] - This effect does effectively the same as Rouge, but the enemy gains Sinking Potency instead. Instead of Defense Level Down, this effect will make the target lose 5 SP as well.
Touche Hardie - This effect will make the target take +10% HP and SP damage from Bleed and Sinking effects, for a maximum of 20% bonus damage on both.
Palette Vibrante - This effect comes from Rodion’s passive when Mauled Colors [Rouge] & [Bleu], as well as Touche Hardie, are all inflicted onto the target at once. What this effect does is that it makes enemies take +2.5% damage times the amount of the stack from Ring faction IDs. This damage boost increases to 5% when the Ring ID is from the School of Fauvism. Finally, at the start of Combat, the target will randomly gain 1 Bleed, 1 Sinking, 1 Bleed Count, or 1 Sinking Count times the stack. Finally, at the end of combat, the amount of Mauled Color [Rouge] and [Bleu] is halved.
This makes Rodion’s game plan relatively simple. You want to have both Mauled Colors and Touche Hardie all inflicted at once to get as much mileage from Palette Vibrante as possible. This is not an easy task for her to do on her own, however, and that will be elaborated on after her skills. Going over them, you have:
Skill 1 - Vehement Overpainting - 1 Coin - Base roll 13 - Max Roll 15 (17 in Clash) - Max Roll on Reuse 22 - An S1 that can clash pretty high and can inflict 3 different effects on its own. This makes it so that you only need 1 unique status effect inflicted onto the enemy to trigger the Coin Reuse.
Skill 2 - Expression of Primary Colors - 2 Coin - Base Roll 16 - Max Roll 24 - This skill inflicts a hefty amount of Mauled Color [Bleu] while also doing a decent amount of damage. Touche Hardie also gets inflicted by Rodion on the same turn, proccing Palette Vibrante on Rodion’s passive.
Skill 3 - Le Fauvisme - Dechainement Brutal - 4 Coins - Base Roll 16 - Max Roll 24 - This skill does some pretty good damage, but usually you’ll want more than 6 types of negative effects on the enemy to activate Skill 3-2, as this Skill is pretty mediocre as far as Season 7 IDs go. Touche Hardie also gets inflicted this time, with an additional one being inflicted if the target has 5+ different types of negative effects.
Skill 3-2 - Burst Forth the Pulsing Crimson under Your Skin - 4 Coins - Base Roll 17 - Max Roll 25 - This skill overall does a ton of damage, with its modifiers adding up to a whopping +130% damage, with 90% bonus damage being added anyway when you have enough negative statuses to activate it. The other 40% comes from Palette Vibrante. There isn’t much about the utility of this skill aside from the fact that you’ll get a hefty amount of Mauled Color [Bleu] and it is another source of Touche Hardie.
Defensive Skill - Trimming the Medium - 2 Coins - Base Roll 13 - Max Roll 15 - This skill doesn’t particularly have much of a use besides inflicting 1 Mauled Color [Rouge] and [Bleu], with an additional 1 being inflicted if the enemy didn’t have it beforehand.
Defensive Skill 2 - Critique - 1 Coin - Base Roll 9 - Max Roll 12 (20 in a Clash, with 2 coming from Clash Power Up if the target has Palette Vibrante) - Max Roll on Reuse 20) - This skill is a very powerful counter that’s activated when Rodion doesn’t have the status Reflexion. The coin on this skill will be reused once for every 3 types of negative effects on the target, for a maximum of 2 times. You will then get Reflexion for 2 turns when the skill ends.
With all of this being covered, let’s go through the second part of Rodion’s passive, where she gets the status Le Fauvisme - Masque de Loup if one of the following conditions is met:
Inflicted Palette Vibrante 3 times (this is counted once per turn, regardless of the number of times the effect was inflicted, meaning this will take 3 turns to activate.
Used “Critique” 2 times.
Used “Burst Forth the Pulsing Crimson under Your Skin.
Upon getting Le Fauvisme - Masque de Loup, it will not expire and gives you a plethora of buffs, such as +1 Min and Max Speed, inflicting +1 more Bleed and Sinking Potency from skills, and inflicting +1 Bleed and Sinking Count if the target has 3+ Mauled Color [Rouge] and [Bleu] respectively.
All of this being said, Ring Rodion has a massive drawback, and that is the fact that on her own, she is unable to keep a Mauled Color [Rouge] stack on her own, as her kit primarily has a lot of Mauled Color [Bleu] infliction. This is detrimental, as when Palette Vibrante expires on Combat End, the amount of Mauled Colors on the target will be halved. You will always want to have at least 9+ Mauled Color stacks at the end of every turn to keep Palette Vibrante on the enemy on turns where you inflict Touche Hardie.
The Ring Fauvist Student, Meursault - Say hello to your solution for Mauled Color [Rouge] stacks. Meursault practically covers Rodion’s massive drawback, making it extremely important to have them together for the best results.
Bleed damage upscale.
Counter - 2 is a very strong on-demand option.
Ring faction support.
Rodion’s own passive works extremely poorly when she has no one else to help her inflict Mauled Color [Rouge]
HP Gates/New Waves/New Stages effectively *reset* the character.
Team building is restrictive towards sticky or next turn debuffs that activate her.
