Character Function and Summary

Howler is a Saboteur that can inflict Heavy Defense Down debuffs and has bonus debuffs for Fire/Ice/Electric/Wind and Resonance damage.

Howler is very versatile as she can use different Skills based on the fight; if the DPS is a Sweeper or is a Fire/Ice/Electric/Wind character, she can use Skill 1 to inflict AoE Defense Down and increase foes’ Damage Taken for those 4 attribute; if the DPS is an Assassin or is a Resonance DPS, she can use Skill 2 to inflict Single-Target Defense Down and increase foes’ Resonance Damage Taken.

Even for DPS that can’t use her Damage Taken debuffs, Howler is still a decent pick as she has strong Defense Down. There are very few characters that can inflict AoE Defense Down debuffs; she is also unmatched in the Single-Target Defense Down category, being able to inflict the largest amount of that debuff. She can also decrease foes’ healing, but it’s rarely used.

Howler’s greatest strength is that she is versatile and has no teambuilding restrictions. While in CN, there are stronger Saboteurs that can provide more unique debuffs, all of them are more clunky to use and have more restrictions compared to her.

Character Synergies
  • Mont.FG: Howler can inflict heavy Single-Target Defense Down and Resonance Damage Taken debuffs for Frostgale Mont.

  • Rin.LD (CN only): Howler can inflict the Burn needed for Rin.LD to activate her Fire TECHNICAL.

Important Awareness / Weapon Value
  • A2: This increases foes’ Critical Damage Taken if they have a debuff from Howler; it’s mostly a stats increase, but a powerful one.

  • A6: Howler can now use Skill 3 on turn 1 and stack most of the debuffs from her Skills/weapon by going Skill 3 > Skill 1/Skill 2 > Skill 2/Skill 1 rotation (based on the fight), this is a good upgrade to Fire/Ice/Electric/Wind or Resonance DPS. And for DPS that don't fit those categories, this will still extend her debuffs duration by 1 turn, giving Howler a free turn if you just go Skill 3 > Skill 1/Skill 2 cycle.

  • Weapon: This weapon is very powerful as it gives Howler more Ailment Accuracy to cap her Skills, and some of her Defense Down is also on the weapon.
