Poltergeist is a 4✦ rarity character from the Spirit afflatus who deals Mental damage and belongs to the Survival class.

Poltergeist is a character who revolves around mitigating Reality DMG, she can dodge attacks, taunt opponents and heal herself. The issue with her is that 4-stars usually have subpar stats, and her skills don't really help with her tanking abilities, she relies entirely on her Ultimate and passives to perform.

Review

Poltergeist's role is very clear, and that is to be a complete tank. As a 4-star character, Poltergeist is extremely hard to kill. If you need someone to just be there and live, she's your ghost girl. You want to get her to Insight I as soon as possible, as she will gain her passive ability, “Good Girl,” which allows her to enter [Concealment] mode at the start of the battle for 2 rounds. She'll be able to dodge any Reality DMG attack as long as they're non-Ultimate, making it, so it’s almost ensured that she won't be taking damage in this scenario.

Another way to gain Concealment is via her Ultimate, “The Sun is Not Gentle,” which also applies [Taunt] to herself, reduces DMG Taken, gives DMG Heal for 3 rounds, and [Concealment] for one. Poltergeist is there just to take hits for you, and she does that incredibly well; however, the main issue is she doesn't do much else. Her “Prank” ability is just a pure damage type skill, which won't be that beneficial for a 4-star character's stats. “Whispering Words” is more useful because it applies Mental DEF -35%, which can support the whole team, at the very least.

Unfortunately, the problem with her is that [Concealment], while good, is specific to Reality DMG, and she doesn't have any team-wide effects that she can provide to the entire team like Oliver Fog, who is generally more useful. Additionally, for the other important effects (Taunt, Damage Reduction, DMG Heal) or just to gain [Concealment] back you have to use her ultimate, which makes her reliant on getting Moxie in order to use them. Yet, you don't really want to use her skills over others most of the time.

Pros & Cons

Pros

As a 4-star character, she has lower investment costs than characters of higher rarities.
Poltergeist is extremely tanky and hard to kill thanks to her passive and Ultimate, which shines especially against enemies with Reality DMG.
Can apply Mental DEF -35% which can help the whole team if you’re running characters with Mental DMG.

Cons

Overshadowed by other tanky units that simply have more going on to their kits to support the whole team.
She doesn’t do much damage or support the team aside from just staying alive.
Reliant on using her Ultimate and you probably don’t want to be using her skills over a good number of characters. This means you’ll probably need someone who can produce Moxie in some way for the team.
