Should You Pull? (TLDR)

  • Do you have the Bloodtithe Core team (Nautika, Semmelweis)?
  • Are you looking to invest into (and optimize) Bloodtithe as an Archetype?
  • Do you like her design?

Review

Finally, a character with more concise text and not 20.000 different effects and clauses.

Sentinel forms the third piece of the Bloodtithe quartet, and her main gimmick is providing the team with highly consistent self-damage to generate stacks of Bloodtithe.

She also has a bit of buffing, granting [Dread Bullet]s to the ally directly in front of her and buffing their Crit Rate, DMG Bonus and even allowing Sentinel to cycle Moxie whenever an ally uses one of her bullets.

Her main job, however, is applying [Fresh Wound], which she can stack on herself and causes her to take damage at the end of the round. In addition, this damage generates more Bloodtithe than usual. Sentinel generates this buff through effectively every action she takes, be it her skills or her Ultimate. So let’s talk about those.

“Night Watch” is the more complicated of the two and also the more important one. Sentinel enters her [Hour of Repentance] channel, granting stacks of [Locked On] to herself while also granting [Dread Bullets] to both herself and the ally in front of her. When an enemy takes an action or at the end of the turn, Sentinel consumes stacks of [Locked On] to cast instances of her first Incantation: “Expiation”.

“Expiation” is a simple 1-target attack whose damage scales with HP and grants Sentinel stacks of [Fresh Wound].

“Infernal Mercy”, her Ultimate, is a 1-target nuke that consumes stacks of [Fresh Wound] to deal additional damage.

Gameplay

Part 3 of the Bloodtithe Exodia.

Sentinel is the team’s battery, stacking [Fresh Wound] for lots of self-damage for Bloodtithe generation.

Besides that she provides a slew of powerful things. For one, she does a very solid amount of personal damage through her constant “Expiation” casts and the damage buffs she gains from utilizing [Dread Bullet]s.

Supportively, beyond her very solid stacking of [Fresh Wound] on herself, she has [Dread Bullet] that she can share with the ally directly in front of her. This grants a considerable amount of DMG Bonus based on Max HP and, through Sentinel’s Insights, it also grants Crit Rate, DMG Bonus, Crit Conversion and at Insight 3 she also gains Moxie (or [Fresh Wound]) whenever [Dread Bullet]s are used.

Pros & Cons
Pros

  • Very consistent and effective generation of [Bloodtithe] through [Fresh Wound].
  • High personal damage through continuous “Expiation” and Ultimate casts.
  • Solid offensive support with additional Crit Rate, DMG Bonus and Crit Conversion.
Cons

  • Can only spread [Dread Bullet] to one ally.

Portrays

Sentinel is complete at Portrait 0.

Vertical investment is limited in viability; generally, you’re only looking at her Portrait 1 as an investment option, as it increases the buffing granted by [Dread Bullet].

Great Synergies

Sentinel is part of the Bloodtithe Exodia and has a bunch of synergies.

  • Core: Nautika, Semmelweis(E)
  • Bloodtithe: Rubushka, Ezra Theodore(E2), Medicine Pocket(E), Eternity(E1)
  • Other: Melania(E), Flutterpage, Fatutu, Lopera, Kakania

The Fighter's Best Wishes
The Fighter's Best Wishes
  • Homecoming Lament is Sentinel's signature psychube, and it's her best option by a wide margin. High base HP, 16% HP substat, 8–16% DMG Dealt, and 18–36% Critical DMG is really hard to beat.
  • Into the Gentle Current is a fantastic alternative psychube. It has the exact same base stats and offers 12–24% Ultimate Might and 16–32% Critical DMG.
  • Family Mentor is an ult-based option with 16% HP. Her [Hour Repentance] attacks count as ripostes, so she can stack up to 12–24% Ultimate Might. Sadly, she isn't a Beast afflatus character, so she can't trigger the team-wide Critical DMG buff.
  • Beyond Wonderland provides 7–21% Critical DMG on top of its 16% HP substat. No debuff incantation means no Healing Bonus, but Sentinel doesn't care about that.
  • The Fighter's Best Wishes is a more defensive 16% HP option. [Fresh Wound] and other Bloodtithe effects mean she's almost always going to have the 10% DMG Taken Reduction active. The Genesis DMG Dealt is wasted on her, though.
  • The remaining 16% HP psychubes aren't particularly compelling. Embrace the Past is Nautika's signature, and you really shouldn't be using Sentinel without her. The Third Commitment is much better on Euphoria Semmelweis (who should be on the team with Sentinel). Tiny Wish is useless outside of A Series of Dusks, Aurora After Winter is completely useless (no buff incantation, no Star afflatus), and 5* psychubes generally aren't worth it because they have lower base stats.

Teams

A few suggestions are listed below. 3-People teams are highlighted, with the 4th slot added at the side to provide a 4-P variation of the same team or even insights on possible variations of the 3-P team.

TEAM EXPLANATION
  • 4th slot options: Semmelweis
  • Euphorias: Semmelweis
  • The idea behind this team is simple: generate [Bloodtithe] and hyperbuff Nautika so she can start blasting. Every piece of this team works towards achieving that goal.
  • Place Sentinel behind Nautika to ensure that she’s getting the [Dread Bullet] buff. This will grant a massive amount of Crit Rate, Conversion and DMG Bonus. Besides that, Sentinel’s primary goal is stacking [Fresh Wound] to function as a [Bloodtithe] battery for the rest of the team.
  • Semmelweis(E) is the sauce here. Through her [Blood Domain] she provides DMG Reduction, DMG Bonus, Bonus Healing Taken, EA DMG Bonus and an increase in [Bloodtithe] generation. Then, through her targeted [Fresh Blood] buff she grants one ally extra Crit Rate, Crit DMG and further DMG Bonus. As you can see, this is a lot of both defensive and offensive buffing, and on top of her Max HP Bonus and steady [Bloodtithe] generation, Semmelweis is the beating heart of the team.
  • The healer slot can be occupied by primarily two units (though do know that Rubushka is VERY likely to fully claim this spot once they release). Medicine Pocket(E), due to locking the team’s HP to 50% and having solid Crit Shred debuffs, is better for quicker fights and more immediate Bloodtithe generation. Fatutu is stronger in longer fights where her raw defensive output scales better.
  • Besides that, Sentinel’s spot is semi-flexible depending on what you have in your box, popular options include:
    • Melania(E) for her powerful Ultimate related buffing which synergizes well with Nautika’s game plan.
    • Flutterpage for the infamous Fatutu combo because Nautika’s Ultimate also counts as a Follow-Up.
    • Eternity(E1) due to her decently consistent [Bloodtithe] generation and Crit buffs.
    • Lopera due to her [Ritual Bullet], Crit buffs and AP-friendly rotation.
    • Kakania because you can’t really go wrong with Kakania and her DMG Share works with [Bloodtithe].
    • Mercuria because Mercuria.
