Overview

Amamiya Mirei is the latest and a welcome addition to the game - she is a powerful Wind Assassin who deals an insane amount of damage in a short time frame and is capable of self-buffs with her Ultimate.

Pros & Cons
Pros

  • High Burst DPS for speedrunning.

  • Lots of free stats.

  • Wind is no longer a meme (now give us more wind weapons for Sung Jinwoo...)

Cons

  • Expensive to reach full potential.

  • Lacks a true dedicated support.

  • Needs careful MP management.

  • No utility besides Cleanse.

Review

Mirei's kit revolves around two key mechanics: Ultimate uptime and Mana Management. When using her ultimate, Mirei gets 'possessed' by Oni Kuroda after putting on her mask - when becoming possessed, Mirei cleans all the debuffs from the team and resets the cooldown of her skills while granting herself [ Super Armor ]. Her Attacks will deal 20% extra damage, her basic reduces her skill cooldown by a few seconds and she gets a lot of cool visual effects..but this power comes with a price. Mirei is one of the most mana hungry characters in the game, as being in the Possessed status will drain of her max MP by 3% every 3 seconds. The [Possessed] status will end when 25 seconds have passed, Mirei tags out or she falls below 10% of her Max MP.

This alone makes MP management one of the most important things when playing Mirei, but there's more - when Mirei has 66% or more of her Max MP, she received the [Kuroha's Darkness] buff. Under this buff, her skills do an additional 30% damage. Additionally, her attack increases by 4% for every extra 150 MP she has, up to 40% bonus atk.

Mirei's skills are relatively simple. Her first skill, "Kuroha's Sword Technique Type 3," grants her 15% Power Gauge when used and sends the enemy [Airborne]. Her second skill, "Kuroha's Sword Technique Type 4," [Knocks Down] the enemy for a quick combo. The first skill dashes to the enemy and then teleports Mirei to the opposite side, allowing her to avoid damage while maintaining her assault.

Her advancements provide Mirei all the extra tools that she needs to unleash even more havoc - upon reaching A1 her [Possessed] buff also adds 20% critical hit rate and damage, and when she uses her Skill 1 while possessed she gets the [Deep Darkness] buff, giving 12% Attack and critical rate (this can stack up to two times!)

Advancement 2 charges her power gauge by 40% at the start of the fight, enabling Mirei to use her first Ultimate as soon as she switches in. Advancement 3 adds much-needed MP and Power Gain Regeneration when using her Basic and Core Attacks. Every Basic and Core Attack also decreases her Ultimate cooldown by 2 seconds. Advancement 4 grants Mirei 10% extra Wind damage for every Wind hunter in the party(up to 3 times) and Advancement 5 gives her the [Raven's Confession] buff when [Possessed], granting a massive 80% damage buff to her Skill 1 and 2.

Fortunately, Advancement 3 is not the only way Mirei can recover MP. Using her QTE recovers 10% of the user's MP, helping alleviate mana management concerns.

Mirei weapon, Bunny Bunbun, is pretty much her bread and butter: it increases Mirei's Power gauge when entering a stage and it will buff the critical hit rate/damage of her Skill 3 and 4. When maxed, we are looking at 60% Power Gauge and 30% crit rate/damage. An A2 Mirei with A5 weapon can instantly charge her ultimate, but you can get away with having 'only' A4 since her Skill 1 will give you 15% Power. However, considering how stat hungry Mirei is we suggest going all the way with her weapon, she won't disappoint you.

In terms of team composition, Mirei benefits greatly from being paired with Woo Jinchul, the most buffed Hunter in SLA. He provides crucial Shields for the frail Mirei and buffs Wind party members' damage when Breaking the target, making him a great Hybrid of Support and breaker. Mirei also greatly benefits from the presence of Han Semi, wind's newest addition, as she not only buffs wind damage and improves the overall survivability of any team, she also grants improved mana regeneration and buffs to the Crit stats, both options being incredibly synergistic with Mirei.

For gear, the Curse set is a good option. With access to level 75 regular sets, you can also run 4 Curse/Toughness on the left side and Expert on the right side, as Mirei's high Critical Rate will help with stacking the buffs.

Should You Pull?

If you want to future proof your account, the answer is most likely 'Yes'.Wind dps hunters have been a huge wish list for a lot of players (sorry Dongsoo…) and she delivers exactly what we were needing: damage, damage and more damage.

However, that's all she brings to the table, at least for now. Her support skill doesn't provide any utility, and her kit is very selfish. She doesn't offer the perks that Alicia brings or the useful [Branded] debuff that Cha provides. Mirei shines in shorter content currently, but this could change with the release of a dedicated Support. Still, considering modes like Reverse, new Dungeon stages, and the addition of Double Weaknesses to stages, players who invest in Mirei will be very happy with the immense damage she brings, especially given the Crit Rate buffs when challenging stages with a significant CP gap.

Investment
  • F2P Players: Aim for at least A1 ascension. This upgrade provides significant Critical Rate, allowing you to focus on Attack, Mana, and Critical Damage.

  • Dolphins: Aim for A3. You get the initial power boost from A2 and the MP/Power recovery from A3. This allows Mirei to last much longer in a fight and maintain her [Kuroha's Darkness] buff.

  • Whales: Absolutely aim for A5 and A5 her weapon as well. Her damage becomes truly insane with these investments.

Best Weapons

For SSR characters, you always want to use their Signature/EX Weapon - they are simply the best for them. Until you obtain the signature weapon, just use the options listed below. The priority is set from left to right. Also, If you have a Signature/EX weapon for a Hunter that is not in your team you can consider using it for the raw stats alone - as long as it matches the character.
