Overview

Bearer of the absolute most hideous face in the game, Stark slashes into the game as the collab’s “free to play” character. However, don’t be fooled - this blank stares Breaker packs quite a punch.

Pros & Cons
Pros

  • Collab character.

  • Actually, powerful damage, working even in WOBL.

  • Powerful in high Defense content.

Cons

  • Less partywide utility compared to other Breakers.

  • That face is horrible. Fix it, Netmarble, pretty please.

Review

Stark is an HP Scaling Fire Breaker that functions around his three major buffs: Reserved, Confidence and Courage. Similar to other releases in the last months, his basic kit doesn’t have many special buffs, so we’ll move straight into Ascension passives. However, it’s worth mentioning that using Skill 2 will grant Stark a shield.

Ascension Passives
  • At A0, Stark begins the stage with the [Reserved] buff. When Stark or an ally Breaks an enemy, their Break duration is extended by 3 seconds. Lastly, Stark doesn’t gain any power, but his power jumps to 100% when he gains the [Courage] buff. Now, let’s dive into the core of his gameplay, which starts with the [Reserved] buff. Using Skill 1 or Skill 2 will activate Stark’s Core Attack, Whirling Strike. When his Core Attack is activated, Stark also gains a stack of [Confidence] and [Determination]. [Confidence] can stack up to 4 times and buffs Stark’s Fire damage and Defense Penetration by 3%. When this buff reaches its maximum stacks, it transforms into [Courage], lasting for 5 seconds and increasing the Fire damage and Defense Penetration to 20%. When this buff ends, it will reapply [Reserved]. Meanwhile, [Determination] lasts 3 seconds and increases Skill 2 damage by 10% and the Critical Hit Rate by 10%.

  • A1 adds even more buffs to the mix. Because we needed more. When Stark enters a story stage, he gains [Fighting Spirit], a buff that decreases the damage taken by 20% and lets Stark recover 40% of his max HP whenever his HP falls below 10% once every 60 seconds. Additionally, when his Core Attack hits the enemy, he inflicts the [Warrior’s Aura] debuff on the enemy, increasing the damage received from Stark by 15%. Additionally, [Determination] is improved and now buffs basic skill damage and Critical Hit by 15% for 10 seconds.

  • A2 is a simple 15% max HP boost for Stark.

  • A3 improves [Warrior’s Aura], now increasing the damage received from Stark by 30%. He now also buffs the entire team’s Defense Penetration by 20% of his Defense Penetration obtained from gear and other sources.

  • A4 increases Stark’s Break effectiveness by 36%.

  • A5 improves [Confidence] - it now buffs Fire damage and Defense Penetration by 5% -, [Courage] effect - Fire damage/Def pen are now increased by 30% and in addition, Stark increases the damage of his Ultimate by 50%. Determination is now also activated by his skill 1, using skill 2 or Stark’s Core Attack decreases the cooldown of Stark’s Ultimate by 4 seconds (0.5 sec cooldown) and hitting an enemy under Warrior’s Aura will activate the [Warrior’s Talent], dealing a lot of damage to the enemy based on Stark’s Max HP!

Weapon and Gear

Stark’s weapon, Stark’s Axe - duh - increases his Fire damage and Defense Penetration by 5% when using his Skill 2. This buff can stack up to 3 times and lasts up to 20 seconds, giving him a nice power spike.

Gear-wise, it’s difficult to suggest his gear because Stark can fill two separate roles - the Breaker and the DPS role. That’s right, Stark can actually do both since he scales HARD on Defense Penetration, making him a great choice for content requiring a lot of Defense Penetration, like Guild Boss or Giant Statue.

For gear, while you can run him on the Breaker sets, it's best to capitalize on his powerful offensive capabilities. The Armed Set, coupled with the Obsidian set, is the perfect mix to ensure Stark can really pack a punch - but running Chaotic is fine as an alternative, especially when you run him with another Breaker.

Team Setups

When it comes to teams, Stark is a useful Fire Breaker that leans heavily on damage. He can be played in the normal Fire team alongside Gina and Kanae, or he can be paired with Yuqi or Esil in a double Breaker team.

Should you roll for Stark?

Let’s start with the usual disclaimer that collab characters are generally a once-and-done experience, meaning if you want the characters, you SHOULD roll for them regardless of meta.

Going a bit more in-depth, Stark is interesting in a way that he doesn’t replace any established Fire Breakers but coexists with them. Ok, maybe not Emma, as Stark is better at being a DPS Breaker.

There’s also the fact that you can actually obtain Stark for free at A5! Because of that, he already has a strong starting point, and he can achieve great results in the current endgame, even being usable as a DPS in WOBL. For Dolphins and Whales, you may want to consider getting more dupes from the Battlepass to make your Stark a little more competitive.

At the same time, being on the DPS side means his party utility is not as good as Esil and Yuqi, since they bring both damage and extra buffs/debuffs to the table. It’s important to note that Stark might receive a buff before the end of the collaboration, so we’ll revisit this as soon as we have more details.

Best Weapons

For SSR characters, you always want to use their Signature/EX Weapon - they are simply the best for them. Until you obtain the signature weapon, just use the options listed below. The priority is set from left to right. Also, If you have a Signature/EX weapon for a Hunter that is not in your team you can consider using it for the raw stats alone - as long as it matches the character.
