PVP

Review

Nilu is a Disorder affinity Animus, filling the roles of both Supporter and offensive Debuffer with varying degrees of success.

Skill 1

Nilu’s S1 is a simple 1-hit single target attack that has a good chance of inflicting the [Vulnerable] debuff to the enemy for 2 turns. [Vulnerable] is a powerful damage boosting effect, and being able to apply it with a basic attack is a huge plus.

Skill 2

Nilu’s S2 is another single target ability, this time hitting one enemy 4 times dealing fairly low base DMG but while providing Healing and Turn meter generation on each hit to the Ally with the highest Attack effectively acting as a close to full turn gauge boost (80% boost) and sizable heal (48% Max HP) for your most offensive character.

Skill 3

Nilu’s S3, similar to her S1, also applies [Vulnerable] for 2 turns but at a much higher base chance, in AoE instead of single target and while also applying the always sought after [SPD+] buff for a whopping 3 turns to your whole team. It’s no exaggeration to say that if your Nilu is built correctly, your entire team should enjoy [SPD+] permanently while the enemy will be suffering from [Vulnerable] without pause.

PVP

Nilu’s kit is simple yet efficient, offering a bunch of sought-after effects; however, her base SPD is incredibly low (comparable to Viper and Valerian), which rules out using her as an opener in SPD-based PVP teams for the most part. Based on this, Nilu has to be played as a follow-up based character in high SPD teams, moving after a faster control or boosting unit, or built tanky enough to survive the enemy's opening move by using defensive shells and matrix sets.

PVE

In PVE, Nilu’s SPD problems are much less of an issue, and her buffs and debuffs hold far more weight. [SPD+] is a must-have in most PVE scenarios and, while not rare to see on a character, is tricky to maintain permanently, something Nilu has no issues with.

[Vulnerability] is also an excellent damage amplifier that’s very much appreciated in most PVE teams, and is only commonly brought by a slim few units like Dinah and Diting.

The combo of these two effects, Nilu’s neutral Disorder typing and her gauge boosting potential, makes her a universal add-in which can be effective in most PVE scenarios. Even if she’s not the best option when compared to characters like Lily, if you have a spot open, she’s always a solid choice.

Conclusion

Nilu’s position in PVP is a difficult one due to her low base SPD, but her excellent buffs/debuffs and mostly universal nature make a stronger all-rounder for PVE, especially if you don’t already have the [SPD] buff covered in your teams.

Pros & Cons
Pros

  • High uptime on [SPD+] and [Vulnerable].

  • Potent Heal + Turn meter increase for main DPS.

Cons

  • Very low base SPD.

  • Needs Skill levels to perform well.

  • Cannot choose the target of S2.

Early Game Builds

For Early Game build tips when it comes to what modules and Shells to use before you start farming Red rarity, check our dedicated guide:

Best Build

The builds below are tailored more toward PVE and we only mention PVP in some places - like for alternative Shells or Module choices. But PVE is our focus.

Best Shells

1

Before the main body acts, it increases its [DEF] by 700 for 2 turns, and applies a [Shield] equal to 400% of its own [DEF] to the main body Animus, and the Animus ally with the lowest current HP percentage for 2 turns.

Cannot stack with similar effects applied by other Shells.

Grants the wearer 700 DEF for 2 turns, as well as applying a sizable shield to an ally for 2 turns. It has a 1-turn initial cooldown, but after that, it will maintain the 700 DEF buff 66% of the time and keep the shield active often. Primarily used on dedicated DEF scalers.

Best Module Sets:

  • 12 set:
    Matrix
    Swiftrush [12/12]
    >
  • 12 set:
    Matrix
    Timeweave [12/12]
  • 6 set: None - the optimal set combo requires you to use a 8-pc/12-pc set not present on the shell, so you have no place for a 6 PC Inferno set.

2

For every 3 actions accumulated by enemy units, increases the owner's Turn Meter by 35%, and can be triggered up to 1 times per turn.

Grants the wearer a 35% gauge boost for every 3 enemy actions that occur, once per turn. A solid choice for Supports in content that sees multiple enemies acting per one turn of the wearer. Loses value against singular enemies or enemies that move slowly or not at all (due to control effects).

The go-to gauge boosting option for Nilu that compliments the fact she already has her own permanant [SPD] buff. This makes it a more appealing option than the usual Jackal Guard.

Best Module Sets:

  • 12 set:
    Matrix
    Swiftrush [12/12]
    >
  • 12 set:
    Matrix
    Timeweave [12/12]
  • 6 set: None - the optimal set combo requires you to use a 8-pc/12-pc set not present on the shell, so you have no place for a 6 PC Inferno set.
Specialist Shells

Below you can find some alternative Shells you can use - though it's mainly for PVP scenarios.

1

When the owner Animus is about to die, halves their current Turn Meter, removes all effects on them, recovers 60% of their Max HP, and puts them into a 1-turn [Iced] state.,

The cooldown of the skill can't be reduced.

Allows the wearer to cheat death once every 6 turns. Upon dying, they will instead recover 60% HP and enter a special state, becoming immune to turn meter reductions, debuffs, buffs, and also gaining 200% increased DEF until the start of their next turn. A powerful option for keeping vulnerable high-value units alive in PVP.

2

Before the owner takes action, if the owner has any debuffs, dispels 2 debuff(s) and increases their Effect RES by 25% for every 1 debuff(s) dispelled, lasting for 2 turn(s).

A PVP-focused shell option offering a 2-turn debuff cleanse and up to 50% Effect RES at turn start with a 4-turn cooldown. A solid option for characters who need to ensure they aren’t taken out of the fight by stuns, freezes, or other debilitating effects on their opening turn.

3

Triggers when the main body takes DMG greater than 25% of Max HP within a turn, healing the main body for 25% Max HP and increasing Turn Meter progress by 25%.

A strong personal sustain option for characters, granting them a 25% max HP restore and 25% gauge boost upon taking hits within a single turn greater than 25% of their max HP (on a 2-turn cooldown). Has situational use in PVE but shines the most in PVP, granting your teams extra healing and gauge boost on a semi-frequent cooldown.

Module Calcs/Information

Below you can find the calculations for specific module sets - split per slot. Click on the dropdown to reveal the information. The % comparison are made against no set equipped.

1

4/12:  SPD +8%

8/12:  SPD +20%

12/12:  SPD +35%

The go-to set for most Supports thanks to its massive Speed boost, allowing for faster cycling and priority in the initial turn order.

2

6/12:  Effect ACC +18%

12/12:  Effect ACC +18%. At the start of the turn, there is a 35% chance to reduce CD of all Animus skills by 1 turn.

A potent specialist option for supports, allowing cooldown times to occasionally be reduced. Though requiring 12 Matrixes to fully activate puts it in conflict with the universal 12P Swiftrush set, forcing you to skip on the full effect of Swiftrush, opting for 12P Timeweaver 8P Swiftrush and 6P inferno instead.

8 Piece sets:

1

4/8:  DEF +10%

8/8:  DEF +10%. After being attacked, advances Turn Meter by 10%.

A powerful specialist option for Supports and, in some cases, DPS characters. When used in PVP, it can allow you to ‘catch up’ against teams that move before you, giving you a chance to fight back. In PvE, it can be a strong gauge boosting tool in fights against many enemies or bosses that hit your team incredibly frequently.

2

4/8:  HP +10%

8/8:  HP +10%. At the start of each wave of battle, grants Immunity for 1 turn. Immunity = [Cannot be inflicted with any debuff].

Grants immunity to the wearer at the start of battle, protecting them from controlling effects. Primarily used in PVP to counter control compositions dominating your team - more of a niche pick in PVE.

1

6/6:  SPD +15% & Effect ACC +20%

The go-to option for most supports, thanks to its presence on many of the best supportive Shells and the strong SPD and Effect ACC it grants. Can be used on some DPS setups if Shell requirements demand it.

1

6/12:  Effect RES +18%

12/12:  Effect RES +18%. When the total DMG taken in a turn exceeds 20% of Max HP, the excess DMG is additionally reduced by 55%.

Exceptional anti-burst defensive set, most notably used in PVP to prevent enemies from one-shotting your team with aggressive combo compositions. It can also be used in specific PvE encounters, but it is far more niche.

2

4/8:  DEF +10%

8/8:  DEF +10%. Upon hit, Animuses have a 25% chance to counterattack with a basic attack.

Incredibly potent specialist set for DPS and Support characters. Grants the wearer a 25% chance upon being attacked to use their Basic ATK along with all its passive effects. Most powerful on characters with potent Basic Attacks that have passive effects and/or can redirect attacks toward themselves.

3

4/8:  DEF +10%

8/8:  DEF +10%. After being attacked, advances Turn Meter by 10%.

A powerful specialist option for Supports and, in some cases, DPS characters. When used in PVP, it can allow you to ‘catch up’ against teams that move before you, giving you a chance to fight back. In PvE, it can be a strong gauge boosting tool in fights against many enemies or bosses that hit your team incredibly frequently.

Stat comments

Nilu has four stats to pay attention to across gear:

  • SPD: SPD is Nilu's most important stat in both PVP and PVE as she wants to move first to apply her [SPD +] on allies and [VULN] on enemies to amplify allies damage and turn meter cycling before they move. SPD also allows Nilu to cycle faster ensuring her [VULN] remains applied and all allies maintain her [SPD +].
  • Effect ACC: Nilu needs a solid amount of EFF ACC% in order to land her [VULN] consistantly in endgame content and against resistant enemies in PVP, invest into it until you find her landing it most times.
  • HP & DEF: After Effect ACC and SPD, maximizing Nilu's survivability should be your next priority, build HP% and DEF% in order to acheive this.
  • Effect RES: A bonus stat to be on the look out for in most cases granting a higher chance at resisting incoming debuffs. Not usually a stat to be priortized but may be of higher value for high end PVP players.

Passive comments
  • Slot 1: Choose one of HP or DEF that suits the style of play and build you're aiming for.
  • Slot 2: Speed is best in all situations.
  • Slot 3: Choose between front loaded or back loaded accuracy or more survivability, all are viable.

COOLDOWN FOCUS: (Lv5 S3 > Lv5 S2 = Lv4 S1 > Lv5 S1) | SPD FOCUS: (Lv4 S1 >= Lv5 S3 > Lv5 S2 > Lv5 S1)
Comments

BUFF/DEBUFF FOCUS: Nilu's S3 is what makes her strong, improving it's [VULN] chance to land, [SPD] duration and applying both more frequently for stronger uptime should be your first Lvl priority. Next, picking up the 12 SPD from her S1 or maxing out her advancement/healing are both valid options. | SPD FOCUS: If you need to max out Nilu's SPD to move before your team or enemies focus on picking up the 12 SPD from her S1 Lv4 first. Next you can move onto maxing out her S2 and S3 following the Buff/Debuff focus ordering.
