Charon is the bus driver for.. Oh, wrong series.
Charon is a 6-star Arcanist of the Spirit afflatus who deals Mental damage. He belongs to the Support class and fits squarely into the Dynamo archetype, making him very strong. Dynamo revolves around [Pulsing Field], which you maintain by transferring high amounts of [Dynamo]. Charon’s own [Dynamo] generation is exceptional. His kit revolves around gaining [Shock Wave], which he consumes with his Ultimate’s channel.
First, he deploys [Pulsing Field Lv.1] if it is not already active, and he transfers [Dynamo] into [Pulsing Field] to continuously upgrade it at the end of each round. He also can upgrade the field to level 3 straight up by using extra [Dynamo]. This is powerful because your Dynamo team can maintain an almost permanent level 3 [Pulsing Field]. After activating Lv.3, he grants [Simplified Ritual] to himself and the adjacent character in front, which lets both of them use their ultimate without costing any AP. Additionally, after activating [Pulsing Field Lv.3], his Penetration Rate increases by 50%.
Getting to [Shock Wave], you gain it through several ways: excess Dynamo, excess Moxie, and whenever an enemy/ally retreats. Shock Wave by the way, is consumed for him to attack all enemies through his Ultimate, and it also gives him [Consternation] which is extra damage. Shock Wave when used with the Ultimate also increases the duration of buffs on allies and debuffs on enemies. Shock Wave is essentially what his whole kit is built around.
His skill From the Void is a mass attack that helps with getting stacks of [Shock Wave], and also inflicts multiple debuffs, allowing for Genesis DMG against enemies with low hp, Critical DEF down, and for every stack of [Consternation] Charon has, enemies get an extra Critical DEF -5% (up to -20%). Enemies take +30% DMG if Charon has 4 or more stacks of [Consternation]. Advice from the Dead is a mass buff that also builds up stacks of [Shock Wave] and increases allied Critical Rate with [Peaceful Soul]. Depending on stacks of [Consternation], [Peaceful Soul] gives Charon more Critical Rate and excess Critical Rate to Critical DMG conversion.
His Ultimate, New Blooms of Life, consumes Shock Wave to trigger Shroud of Regret (per stack of Shock Wave), a massive Mental nuke that scales with both Shock Wave and Consternation stacks. It also generates [Dynamo] for every five stacks of Shock Wave owned. Additionally, it extends buffs and debuffs across the battlefield and grants Moxie. Activating his Ultimate is therefore very important. You also gain extra Moxie when entering battle based on the number of Spirit/Intellect allies, which will help you set it up.
When we say he can go AFK, it’s because the entire kit passively builds Shock Wave. He generates unhealthy amounts of [Dynamo], deals an egregious amount of damage, and has a very interesting debuff that allows for both quick clearing and easier extended fights.
Generates absurd amounts of [Dynamo] and [Shock Wave], letting him maintain [Pulsing Field Lv.3] almost permanently.
Ultimate scales insanely with stacks, dealing massive Mental damage while extending buffs and debuffs across the battlefield.
Passive kit builds Shock Wave, making him very strong even when left AFK.
Applies strong debuffs and critical buffs that scale with [Consternation], enhancing both burst and sustained damage.
Synergizes extremely well with Spirit/Intellect allies, gaining extra Moxie for setup and sustained DPS.
Should be in a Dynamo team, so make sure you have one.
Overall
Stats and Build
Prioritizes ATK and Critical Rate/DMG. Increasing Charon's ATK not only boosts his damage but also raises the HP threshold required to trigger his Genesis DMG (up to 20% of the enemy's max HP).
If you don’t have Resonance Patterns unlocked, try this build with Placidity:

Buds Yet to Bloom is Charon's signature psychube, and it's his best option. Boasting 16% Critical Rate, 8–16% DMG Dealt, and a team-wide buff of 12–24% Critical DMG, this psychube boosts the offensive power of both Charon and his teammates.
On the Hand of Time is a good alternative option for Charon, as his [Day of Remorse] is considered an Extra Action. 24% Critical DMG, 14–28% Penetration Rate, and 6–12% Critical DMG (because he only has one Extra Action per turn) are great for improving Charon's damage output. However, it's the best-in-slot option for several of his Dynamo teammates, so you're usually better off just building his signature.
Long Night Talk is a decent substitute psychube for Charon, especially if you already have it built. He can benefit from the full 8% DMG Dealt due to [Consternation] and [Peaceful Soul] being Pos Status effects, and he can cast his buff [Advice from the Dead] to stack up this psychube's 4–12.5% ATK. The 18% Incantation Might is also great, as it affects the damage output of his debuff [From the Void] and his Extra Action [Day of Remorse].
Balance, Please is a classic Primal afflatus option, but you can't use it against Intelligence-afflatus enemies or you lose out on its 12–24% DMG Bonus. [Day of Remorse] makes great use of this psychube's 18% Ultimate Might.

Laplace Asylum
Niche 1: Dynamo || Niche 2: FUA
Oriented around keeping [Electric Field] at high levels through [Dynamo]. This team combines Lucy's generally strong attributes like [Data Iteration] and [Pragmatist] with Ulrich's surprisingly personal output and various Channel effects to blend debuffs and Ultimate Might buffs. This is all then added to by Charon's insane [Dynamo] generation while maintaining high personal output and debuffs allows you to swap Ezra out for someone like Medicine Pocket(E) for better offensive support with the Crit debuffs. Corvus is a good alternative Carry if you don't have Lucy and, while not recommended, other supports for this team could feature Melania(E) or Mercuria.
