A Knight's Heartfelt Prayers

Resonance Liberation - A Knight's Heartfelt Prayers

  • By reducing HP to 50% of the Max HP, Cartethyia transforms into Fleurdelys, unlocking new moves and entering the Manifest state for 12s.

  • Can be performed in mid-air.

  • Entering Manifest clears all Conviction.

  • As Fleurdelys, Basic Attack - Fleurdelys Stage 5, Mid-air Attack - Fleurdelys Stage 2, and Resonance Skill - May Tempest Break the Tides instantly trigger 1 instance of Aero Erosion DMG and reduce the Aero Erosion stack on the target hit by 1.

    • Ending the state will not clear Resonance Energy.

    • No HP cost when HP is below 50%.

  • Fleurdelys's attacks restore Conviction on hit. When Conviction reaches 120 points, press Resonance Liberation to cast Resonance Liberation - Blade of Howling Squall.

  • When Conviction is below 120 points, press Resonance Liberation to transform back into Cartethyia. When in Manifest, casting Resonance Liberation - A Knight's Heartfelt Prayers as Cartethyia consumes no Resonance Energy.

  • When Fleurdelys has Heart of Virtue in Manifest:

    • Basic Attack - Fleurdelys Stage 4 will generate a force field to Stagnate the targets within the range.

    • Fleurdelys's resistance to interruption increases.

    • Heart of Virtue is removed when Manifest ends.

  • When Fleurdelys has Mandate of Divinity in Manifest:

    • Aero Erosion DMG is Amplified by 50% and the damage interval is decreased by 50% for enemies within a certain distance from Fleurdelys.

    • Mandate of Divinity is removed when Manifest ends.

  • When Fleurdelys has Power of Discord in Manifest:

    • When casting Basic Attack - Fleurdelys Stage 5, Mid-air Attack - Fleurdelys Stage 2 and Enhanced Heavy Attack - Fleurdelys or after Resonance Skill - May Tempest Break the Tides deals damage, raise the Aero Erosion stacks on all nearby targets to the highest count among the targets.

    • Power of Discord is removed when Manifest ends.

  • Fleurdelys will transform back to Cartethyia during quest dialogues, environmental interaction animations, or using Utilities.

  • Fleurdelys can walk on water. Doing so on deep waters continuously consumes STA. When in walking state, Fleurdelys can step out of a high place and walk in mid-air by continuously consuming STA.

Avatar - Cartethyia

As Fleurdelys, when Conviction is below 120 points, press Resonance Liberation to perform Basic Attack - Cartethyia Stage 2 and temporarily transform back to Cartethyia, which pauses the timer on Manifest.

Can be cast in mid-air. Casting the skill in mid-air performs Mid-air Attack - Cartethyia.

Avatar - Fleurdelys

When in Manifest, casting Resonance Liberation as Cartethyia performs Basic Attack - Fleurdelys Stage 2 without consuming Resonance Energy and transforms her back to Fleurdelys, which resumes the timer on Manifest.

Can be cast in mid-air. Casting this skill in mid-air performs Mid-air Attack - Fleurdelys Stage 1.

Resonance Liberation - Blade of Howling Squall

When Fleurdelys has 120 points of Conviction, Resonance Liberation - A Knight's Heartfelt Prayers is replaced by Resonance Liberation - Blade of Howling Squall.

Casting Resonance Liberation - Blade of Howling Squall removes all Conviction, ends Manifest, restores 50% of Max HP, and then deals Aero DMG to all targets in an area along a straight line in front. Upon hitting the target, remove all stacks of Aero Erosion on the target. Each stack removed Amplifies the DMG taken by the targets by 20%, up to 5 stacks.

Can be cast in mid-air.

Resonance Chain (Dupes)
S1

Sequence Node 1

Gain Zeal that lasts for 10s when Cartethyia's or Fleurdelys's attacks directly damage and defeat targets inflicted with Aero Erosion.

In the Zeal state, upon defeating enemies, the next move that directly damages targets raises the Aero Erosion stacks on the targets to the highest count among the targets defeated. This will not exceed the current max Aero Erosion stack limit. Zeal is removed afterward and enters a 1s cooldown.

When Fleurdelys's Conviction hits 30/60/90/120, Fleurdelys's Crit. DMG is increased by 25% for 15s, up to 4 stacks. The duration of this effect does not reset upon gaining new stacks. After casting Resonance Liberation - Blade of Howling Squall, the increased Crit. DMG is removed.

S2

Sequence Node 2

Casting Resonance Liberation - A Knight's Heartfelt Prayers increases the max stack limit of Aero Erosion on targets within a certain range by 3 stacks. The next attack that directly damages the target inflicts 3 stacks of Aero Erosion on all targets within a certain range and immediately triggers the Aero Erosion DMG on the targets hit once without consuming the Aero Erosion stacks.

The DMG Multipliers of Cartethyia's Basic Attack, Heavy Attack, Dodge Counter, and Intro Skill are increased by 50% and the DMG Multiplier of her Mid-air Attack is increased by 200%.

After casting Mid-air Attack - Cartethyia, every 1 type of Sword Shadow recalled reduces the cooldown of Resonance Skill - Cartethyia by 1s.

S3

Sequence Node 3

Basic Attack - Fleurdelys Stage 5, Mid-air Attack - Fleurdelys Stage 2, Enhanced Heavy Attack - Fleurdelys, and Resonance Skill - May Tempest Break the Tides now inflict 2 stacks of Aero Erosion on the targets hit.

The DMG Multiplier of Resonance Skill - Blade of Howling Squall is increased by 100%.

S4

Sequence Node 4

After Resonators in the team inflict Havoc Bane, Fusion Burst, Spectro Frazzle, Electro Flare, Glacio Chafe, or Aero Erosion, all Resonators in the team gain 20% DMG Bonus for all Attributes for 20s.

S5

Sequence Node 5

When Cartethyia or Fleurdelys takes a fatal blow, they will not be downed by this instance of damage, but instead gain a Shield equal to 20% of Cartethyia's Max HP for 10s. This effect can be triggered once every 10 min.

The HP cost for casting Resonance Liberation - A Knight's Heartfelt Prayers is reduced to 25% of Max HP.

S6

Sequence Node 6

After casting Resonance Liberation - Blade of Howling Squall, raise the Aero Erosion stacks on the target hit to max. Casting Resonance Liberation - Blade of Howling Squall no longer removes the Aero Erosion stacks on the target.

Within 30s after casting Intro Skill - Sword to Mark Tide's Trace, Intro Skill - Sword to Call for Freedom, Resonance Liberation - A Knight's Heartfelt Prayers, and Resonance Liberation - Blade of Howling Squall, when any Resonator in the team inflicts Aero Erosion on the targets with max stacks of Aero Erosion, immediately trigger the Aero Erosion DMG once.

The targets take 40% more DMG from Fleurdelys.

Please keep in mind Wuthering Waves is a skill-based game and each character has a different playstyle, difficulty level and even special tricks and combos. Wuthering Waves is also a team based game and it's only by combining both these factors to the highest level a character can reach optimal performance.

Tower of Adversity

T0.5

Whimpering Wastes

Pros & Cons
Pros

  • Best DPS in the game in her best team with optimal conditions. Period.

  • Built-in interruption resistance: once inputs are learnt, her rotation is near-impossible to fail;

  • Self-sufficient: heals herself, applies and amplifies Aero Erosion, making her able to exploit her kit by herself (albeit not to its full potential);

  • Difficult to hit as a good chunk of her rotation is spent in the air;

  • Able to stagnate AND group enemies in Fleurdelys form;

  • Lots of swap cancel windows: room for optimization & quickswap;

  • DPS is so good at a baseline that even without her best team or best weapon, she’ll still slap anything in her way with good Echoes;

  • Increases teammate interruption resistance & healing, funnels Forte points to Aero Rover if present — makes team rotations much smoother;

  • INSANE second Ultimate animation.

Cons

  • Very expensive: teammate reliant, signature weapon reliant, even buffed by teammate signature weapons, requires your other characters to adopt unconventional builds, herself being built unconventionally as she scales off of HP. Be prepared to dump a LOT of resources into this character to unleash her full potential, without the possibility to share her build with anyone else;

  • Can have difficulties keeping Aero Erosion stacked up in AoE scenarios if she kills all enemies at once (particularly important in Whimpering Wastes). This effect is further amplified without Ciaccona on the team, even in single-target situations;

  • In-game kit descriptions are 3 times longer to read than our in-depth review. It’s time to make proper use of the shortened description feature you implemented, Kuro…

Review

At long last, the highly-anticipated Cartethyia is available to play in Wuthering Waves 2.4, and she does not mess around. Cartethyia is a 5-star Aero Sword DPS character whose primary role is to deal massive damage to enemies in a wide Area of Effect after she’s been fully buffed by the 2 other characters in your team. Best in a Hypercarry playstyle, but also functional in Quickswap team compositions, Cartethyia relies on the Aero Erosion mechanic to take her damage a step ahead of the competition.

As Cartethyia’s kit description is, to REALLY say the least, a long read… we’ll spare you all of the unnecessary details and instead exclusively tackle what we use in her rotation.

Something to note to start with, is that the entirety of Cartethyia’s damage is based on her HP. This makes building her certainly original, but also way more restrictive, as most Swords and Echo sets revolve around buffing ATK. This makes her a very selective DPS in general and is one of her main flaws — but we’re getting ahead of ourselves, so let’s start with her kit in the order of her rotation:

First of all, Cartethyia has two forms. Her Ultimate allows her to transform into Fleurdelys to gain a new kit, but before that, she needs to accumulate what’s known as “Sword Shadows”. There are 3 types of Sword Shadows, all of which enhance her kit in her Fleurdelys form where she will deal the overwhelming majority of her damage. All Sword Shadows acquired are visible on her Forte bar in her Cartethyia form. Their effects to Fleurdelys are as follows:

  • Sword of Discord: Gained after using Cartethyia’s Resonance Intro, it raises the Aero Erosion stacks on all nearby enemies to whatever count is highest among the currently remaining enemies after using most of Fleurdelys’s important abilities. This has two effects: the first is keeping all enemies in range at the same amount of Aero Erosion, the second is refreshing the duration of Aero Erosion (so the stacks will never expire mid-rotation);

  • Sword of Divinity: Gained after using Cartethyia’s Basic Attack 4, it amplifies Aero Erosion DMG by 50% and reduces the damage interval by 50% for enemies near Fleurdelys (meaning the damage is applied twice as fast effectively doubling the damage on top of 50% Amplification);

  • Sword of Virtue: Gained after using Cartethyia’s Skill, it allows her to gain increased Interruption Resistance and generate a stagnation field after using her Basic Attack 4 in Fleurdelys form.

All of these Sword Shadows (aside from Sword of Discord in single-target scenarios, but it is really easy to acquire) are really important to obtain. However, another effect stacking up each Sword will have is enhancing Cartethyia’s Mid-Air Attack. Using this Mid-Air Attack summons all Sword Shadows to attack the enemy, inflicting higher damage and granting their effects to Fleurdelys. Hence, it is mandatory to cast this Mid-Air Attack every rotation to ensure Fleurdelys is as buffed as can be to deal the highest amount of damage possible. Besides, the damage on this ability isn’t bad, so increasing it further isn’t a bad idea in any context.

This means, to start with, we will do the following abilities:

  • Intro Skill (This acquires Sword of Virtue);

  • Basic 2, 3, 4 (Using Intro skill allows Cartethyia to start at Basic 2, this acquires Sword of Divinity);

  • Resonance Skill (This acquires Sword of Discord);

  • Mid-Air Attack (This consumes all Swords to grant their effects to Fleurdelys);

  • Ultimate (This transforms Cartethyia into Fleurdelys).

It should be noted that Intro Skill and Resonance Skill each apply 2 stacks of Aero Erosion on the targets hit, while Basic Attack 4 applies 1 stack, for a total of 5 Aero Erosion stacks per rotation. The limit is naturally 3 stacks, however this can be increased via Aero Rover’s Outro skill and via Cartethyia’s Sequence 2 (each increasing the limit by 3). At most, Fleurdelys benefits from 6 Aero Erosion stacks being present on her targets. Via Cartethyia’s Inherent Skill, all damage dealt by Cartethyia and Fleurdelys on targets affected by Aero Erosion increases by 30% regardless of their stack count. For every stack above 3, she also gains an extra 10% Aero Erosion up to 30% at 6 stacks (for a total of 60% DMG Bonus). This gives her a tremendous amount of DMG Bonus, further adding on to the necessity to apply Aero Erosion on her targets.

Her other Inherent Skill increases healing to all characters in the team aside from herself by 20%, along with increasing their interruption resistance. She additionally gives 25 Forte points to Aero Rover if they are present in the team and cast their Ultimate - this however only sees real use if Aero Rover is swapped in the middle of Fleurdelys’s rotation (as otherwise, they will face Concerto Energy problems when trying to take advantage of this ability. However, if the player is able to manage that, it is a nice time save).

With that out of the way, let’s finally tackle her Fleurdelys form, called “Manifest” and establish the essentials:

  • When transforming into Fleurdelys, Cartethyia immediately reduces her Max HP to 50% of its original value (unless her current HP is already equal to or below 50%). The Manifest state lasts for 12s.

  • Fleurdelys gains a brand new kit with new Basic Attacks, 2 new Heavy Attacks, 2 new Resonance Skills, a new Forte bar called “Conviction” which allows her to cast her second Ultimate (the hardest-hitting ability she has), a brand new Intro Skill and certain attacks make her consume Aero Erosion instead of applying it.

  • When using several key abilities, Fleurdelys will consume 1 stack of Aero Erosion to instantly deal the instance of damage it normally would’ve done.

  • When using any ability, Fleurdelys restores a portion of Conviction, stackable up to 120. At 120 points, she is able to cast her second Ultimate, deal MASSIVE damage in this process, and end her rotation.

  • The damage of this second Ultimate is influenced by how much Aero Erosion is present on the targets, up to 5 stacks. Each of these 5 potential stacks get removed on cast and amplify the damage of the attack by 20% each (up to 100%).

  • The second Ultimate restores 50% of Cartethyia’s (not Fleurdelys’s) max HP.

  • Ending the state does not cost any Resonance Energy.

Here is the most efficient way to stack up Conviction, along with what abilities consume Aero Erosion:

  • Skill 1

  • Mid-Air Attack 3

  • Skill 2 (this consumes 1 Aero Erosion)

  • Basic 3 (her Basic chain starts from stage 3 after Skill 2)

  • Basic 4

  • Basic 5 (this consumes 1 Aero Erosion)

  • Heavy Attack

  • Enhanced Heavy Attack (press Basic Attack shortly after Heavy Attack)

After all of these abilities have been performed, Fleurdelys is free to perform her second Ultimate, nuke enemies down, and end her rotation. Her Outro amplifies Aero DMG dealt to targets with Negative Status applied by 17.5% for 20s, which is an acceptable boost but nothing impressive.

All of Cartethyia’s kit mechanics tied to Aero Erosion consumption aren’t utilizable to their fullest on her own. Unfortunately, to fully utilize her Ultimate’s DMG Amplification effect and to fully utilize her Inherent Skill’s DMG Bonus, she will need to be paired with specifically Ciaccona, and before her S2 Aero Rover as well. They are non-negotiably her best teammates, however Cartethyia’s S2 does allow her to throw out Aero Rover as a teammate as she can get 6 stacks of Aero Erosion thanks to it. This removes the need to have a clunky teammate on the team and only further adds to her value (not to mention the insane damage boosts S1 & S2 provide, basically makes clearing any content completely free).

Nonetheless, at S0, Cartethyia’s teams do get restricted by the nature of her kit’s mechanics, as they tie her down to specific Aero Erosion teammates. However, even without both Ciaccona and Aero Rover (all 3 must non-negotiably be used together for optimal synergy), Cartethyia does get fantastic damage on her own as her kit is mostly self-sufficient. Add that to a solid amount of swap cancel windows (check her Gameplay page for more information on this) and you have a character who is more than enough on her own, and a massive destructive force in her best team. It’s very easy to see Cartethyia deals the most damage of any character currently and as a result is the best damage dealer in the game, making her a staple of the game’s meta.

In conclusion, Cartethyia is an excellent all-around damage dealer. She is capable of handling all kinds of situations, from single-target to AoE, although she does have some issues re-applying Aero Erosion, particularly in Whimpering Wastes, when a full wave of enemies dies at once. She has the highest damage potential in the game and is able to work with several teammates to a great degree, even her F2P team is good enough to make for a top tier team composition. Note however that her main flaw is in her lack of a good weapon due to her HP scaling & she lacks Aero Erosion teammate options, which can make her expensive or underperform if you don’t invest enough pulls into getting her other upgrades to make full leverage of her kit. However, in her best conditions, Cartethyia will perform as the best DPS in the game, making her one of the most valuable characters in Wuthering Waves.

Stats at Level 90: ATK: 413 | HP: 72.2%

Cartethyia's Signature weapon is her best by heaps and bounds, as it provides her with a massive amount of HP% for her to utilize her kit to the fullest potential. On top of this, having an extra passive 8% DEF Ignore and 20% general DMG Amplification to all targets inflicted with Aero Erosion makes this weapon the uncontested best for Cartethyia, by a lot, as it is the only option which gives her the stats she truly wants.

104.77%

Stats at Level 90: ATK: 587 | CRIT Rate: 24.3%

One of Cartethyia's only good alternatives to Emerald of Genesis and her Signature, Camellya's weapon works well for her by virtue of providing the same 24.3% CRIT Rate Emerald of Genesis provides, but also providing an extra 30% Basic Attack DMG bonus via the weapon's passive effect which she uses decently well. For this reason, it is the second best option being her sought-after Signature.

100%

Stats at Level 90: ATK: 587 | CRIT Rate: 24.3%

One of Cartethyia's strongest options thanks to the massive CRIT Rate and Energy Regen stats this weapon provides. Although Cartethyia makes little use of anything else present on the weapon, she doesn't make much leverage of any other options competing with this one aside from her Signature, so this weapon is one of the best.

98.76%

Stats at Level 90: ATK: 415 | Energy Reg.: 77%

Surprisingly usable on Cartethyia as any ATK% or Attack Type DMG% other weapons provide is of little use to her. Offers a small amount of CRIT Rate, more Energy Regen than Cartethyia could ever use and some Basic Attack DMG bonus which she does get some leverage out of. Usable, but not recommended over Emerald of Genesis.

98.73%

Stats at Level 90: ATK: 587 | CRIT DMG: 48.6%

As Cartethyia deals very little Resonance Skill DMG, she only makes use of the CRIT DMG this weapon provides. While it is a great stat for Cartethyia, as she uses nothing else present on this weapon, it falls behind Emerald of Genesis as it at least provides some additional Energy Regen for her.

Stats at Level 90: ATK: 300 | HP: 30.3%

3-star option which serves as an HP% stat-stick. Usable on Cartethyia and better than any 4-star options currently, however nothing impressive. Strongly recommended to pull and utilize Emerald of Genesis off of the permanent banner instead of using this option.
Best Echo Sets

Best Echo Sets show the best sets that support the main character playstyle and work out of the box while the Special Echo Sets either are situational, support an alternative playstyle or are targeted toward min-maxers. The percentage numbers showcase the relative DPS increase when you take into account the set bonus only. For some characters there's no DPS (or its equivalent) available and in that case we listed the sets in the order of priority.

100%

2 Set: Aero DMG +10%.

5 Set: Hitting a target with Aero Erosion increases Crit. Rate by 10% and grants 30% Aero DMG Bonus, lasting for 10s.

Best set for Aero Main DPS characters who can apply Aero Erosion or have an Aero Erosion applier on the team. Grants 10% Aero DMG Bonus and an extra 30% Aero DMG Bonus as well as 10% CRIT Rate for 10s when attacking targets inflicted with Aero Erosion. Offers an extra 10% CRIT Rate over the other Aero sets such as Gusts of Welkin or Sierra Gale, providing extra overall damage so long as Aero Erosion is present on the enemy.

Below you can find Main Echo options that you should be using with the set:

  • Echo
    Reminiscence: Fleurdelys
    - A simple Summon Echo that deals a good chunk of damage, but most importantly grants the assigned Resonator 10% unconditional Aero DMG Bonus if equipped in the Main Slot, with an extra 10% Aero DMG Bonus for Cartethyia, making it the best choice for her.

93.66%

2 Set: Aero DMG +10%.

5 Set: Inflicting Aero Erosion upon enemies increases Aero DMG for all Resonators in the team by 15%, and for the Resonator triggering this effect by an additional 15%, lasting for 20s.

The calculation for this set is also applicable to 5P Sierra Gale. On Cartethyia, this set falls behind Windward Pilgrimage as she is a Main DPS and makes better use of the 10% CRIT Rate that the set provides instead of opting to buff the rest of the party's Aero DMG by 15%.

Best Endgame Stats (Level 90)

Important! CRIT DMG has base value of 150% and Energy Regen has a base value of 100% when you check them in game. The recommended values below don't include the base value but rather show how much on top of it you need to obtain.

  • HP: 35000 - 50000+

  • DEF: 600+

  • AERO DMG%: 30% - 90%+ (Before Combat)

  • CRIT RATE%: 65% - 80%+ (Before Set Bonus)

  • CRIT DMG%: 140% - 170%+

    • CRIT stats are higher for this character's recommendations as she uses 4/4/1/1/1 and not 4-3-3-1-1.

  • ENERGY REGEN: 10% - 20%

    • Cartethya requires minimal ER to function in her most common endgame teams. We recommend building 10% - 20% on her.

Rotation

Below you can find optimal rotation (or rotations) for Cartethyia. The total time needed to perform it is 13.5 seconds. When selecting the rotations we prioritized achieving 100 Concerto as fast as possible and once that condition was fulfilled, we focused on maximizing the damage output. As or if new and more optimal rotations are found, we'll update the characters calculations as needed.

Basic Rotation

Cartethyia’s main rotation is really easy to perform thanks to her increased Interruption Resistance given by her Sword of Virtue effect. The rotation below is the most optimal way to minimize her rotation time while exploiting all the elements of her kit, as follows:

  • Intro - Cartethyia
  • Basic P2
  • Basic P3
  • Basic P4
  • Skill: Sword to Bear Their Names
  • Mid-air Attack - Cartethyia
  • Ultimate: A Knight’s Heartfelt Prayers
  • Forte: Sword to Answer Waves’ Call (Skill 1)
  • Forte: Fleurdelys Mid-air Attack P3 (Hold Basic during Resonance Skill)
  • Forte: May Tempest Break the Tides (Skill 2)
  • Forte: Fleurdelys Basic P3
  • Forte: Fleurdelys Basic P4
  • Forte: Fleurdelys Basic P5
  • Forte: Fleurdelys Heavy Attack
  • Forte: Fleurdelys Enhanced Heavy Attack (Press Basic shortly after Heavy Attack)
  • Ultimate: Blade of Howling Squall
  • Outro

While Cartethyia has a simple rotation which is set in stone, she has some useful tricks which you can make use of to save a bit of time or otherwise improve your team damage. Here are a bunch of tricks for you to use.

Cartethyia can adjust her rotation based on team composition:

  • In most situations, the rotation we suggested is the best one, as it has the best compromise of damage for time spent on the field. It is fully functional with 14s Outro buffs and reduces Aero Erosion by the least amount of stacks, which makes it best for teams where Aero Erosion stack maintenance matters more.
  • However, with Ciaccona present on the team, or with an S3 Cartethyia, Aero Erosion will always be at max stacks. As a result, spending 1 more Aero Erosion and slightly extending the rotation by doing Mid-Air Attack 1 & 2 instead of Mid-Air Attack 3 will lead to slightly higher DPS. This is however mostly impractical as it depends on the HP threshold of the enemy you face – if the faster rotation can kill them, it’ll save more time. Remember to adjust your rotations accordingly to the situation if you want to optimize!

Cartethyia has several Swap Cancel windows:

  • During her base Cartethyia form, Cartethyia is able to weave in her Resonance Skill in the middle of your other characters’ rotations. A good example of this is with Sanhua in a Cartethyia-Sanhua team. As Sanhua performs her Forte: Detonate Heavy Attack, it’s possible to switch out of Sanhua onto Cartethyia, perform her Resonance Skill, switch back to Sanhua when her animation is finished, then Outro into Cartethyia and skip out on doing this attack in the middle of her own rotation, saving a small bit of time. However, keep in mind that doing this process will require you to execute a Jump after her Basic Attack 4 in order to execute her Mid-Air Attack so that she can activate her Sword Shadow buffs. It is still faster to do so however.
  • During her Fleurdelys form, Fleurdelys can swap out of the following abilities: Mid-Air Attack 3, Skill 2, Basic P5, Enhanced Heavy Attack.
  • All of these abilities can be swapped out of (so long as an Outro buff which expires on swap isn’t present) and come back without delaying your Fleurdelys rotation by almost any time, as a result allowing you to weave in some extra attacks with your other characters for added damage & Concerto generation. This enables teams with Quickswap playstyles with characters like Changli.
  • Doing this with Aero Rover enables them to make full use of Cartethyia’s Additional Ability which grants an extra 25 Windstrings for them when casting their Ultimate. Usually, they run into Concerto Energy problems, but if you Swap Cancel some of Fleurdelys’s abilities and weave in even a single Aero Rover attack, in most situations it’s enough to skip out on 1 Cloudburst Dance which speeds up your rotation and improves Team DPS!

Cartethyia can Animation Cancel some of her abilities.

  • It is common for several characters to act out of certain actions quicker by interrupting them with certain abilities. Note to only do this when the damage from the abilities have fully come out (or will fully come out). In Cartethyia’s case, she makes use of this all throughout her rotation, as she is able to act out of certain abilities quicker via certain methods than if she were to follow up with a Basic Attack for example. This small delay where she is unable to perform any actions is called “endlag” and this endlag, lasting for a few tenths of a second in most cases, can be interrupted early via certain abilities. This is a strict improvement to her rotation time without forfeiting any damage, thus increasing DPS. Here are all the examples used in practice throughout her rotation:
  • In Cartethyia form: Cancelling her Basic Attack 4’s endlag into her Resonance Skill or a Jump into a Mid-Air Attack.
  • In Cartethyia form: Cancelling her Mid-Air Attack’s endlag with her Ultimate (this can be done really early while still activating Sword Shadow buffs, however you lose out on a good chunk of damage which is not worth it in almost every scenario. Make sure to do this with a bit of timing).
  • In Fleurdelys form: Cancelling her Mid-Air Attack 3’s endlag with her Skill 2.
  • In Fleurdelys form: Cancelling her Enhanced Heavy Attack’s endlag into her second Ultimate.

For more advanced players, make sure to incorporate most, if not all of these tricks throughout your entire rotation to take your Cartethyia’s damage way ahead of everyone else!

Additional information

The numbers below show the character's DPS (Damage Per Second) and DMG (total damage done). When selecting the rotations we prioritized achieving 100 Concerto as fast as possible and once that condition was fulfilled, we focused on maximizing the damage output. As or if new and more optimal rotations are found, we'll update the characters calculations as needed. Listed character calculations are done without buffs or any damage contribution from teammates (full solo). They only include what the character, their Weapon, Echo and gear are capable of during their ideal Burst or Concerto rotation when starting with their Intro and Resonance Liberation available.

Do note that DPS and DMG aren’t perfect metrics for a character’s individual value and should be taken with a grain of salt. Anything pertaining a character’s relevance in the meta is addressed in our Review and Tier List, which the numbers below shouldn’t be used for as an end-all-be-all to. Instead, DPS and DMG are good metrics for a character’s sequence value and comparison between an individual character’s different rotations. We recommend using those metrics for such purposes.

Important!

  • S2: Cartethyia’s Sequence 2 increases the amount of Erosion stacks she's able to apply, while also allowing her to stack them up more consistently after her Ultimate. This is incredibly potent in a vacuum, but weaker when in teams that have Aero Rover who offers this same stack increase effect. In this case, this Sequence will offer less of an increase.
  • S3: This Sequence further improves Cartethyia’s Aero Erosion application, allowing her to keep maximum stacks all throughout her Ultimate rotation. Once more, if you already have teammates helping her with application and maintenance, such as Ciaccona for example, this Sequence will be less impactful.
