Detention Pass

Unlocks at level 1

Cooldown: -

Range: Global

Initial Energy: 300

Passive. When a battle starts, Contess hides within her rulebook. While hidden, she cannot move or act, cannot be targeted by enemies, and recovers 66 Energy every second.

She enters the battlefield when her Energy is full, when an enemy violates a rule, or when all other allies are defeated.

Active. Contess restores 666% + 66% HP to a target ally and grants them Exemption.

Exemption: Prevents the target ally from being punished by allied Contess for rule violations. While the ally's HP ratio is above 40%, they lose 2.5% of their max HP every second, converting 200% of the lost amount into a shield. The shield value cannot exceed 100% of the ally's max HP. While this shield is active, the ally's ATK is increased by 30%.

When auto battle is enabled, this skill prioritizes the ally with the most cumulative damage dealt who has not yet received Exemption. If all allies have already received Exemption, it instead targets the weakest ally.

Unlocks at level 51: When an ally loses HP from Exemption's HP reduction effect, the shield conversion ratio increases to 225% of the lost HP.

Unlocks at level 111: When an ally loses HP from Exemption's HP reduction effect, the shield conversion ratio increases to 250% of the lost HP.

Unlocks at level 171: When an ally loses HP from Exemption's HP reduction effect, the shield conversion ratio increases to 275% of the lost HP.

Unlocks at level 231: When an ally loses HP from Exemption's HP reduction effect, the shield conversion ratio increases to 300% of the lost HP.

Skill I

Mandatory Civility

Unlocks at level 11

Cooldown: 8s

Range: Global

While Contess is on the battlefield, she disciplines those who violate school rules, reducing their max HP by 6.6% + 0.6%. Max HP reduced cannot exceed 100% + 10%.

Code of Conduct - Be Civil

When a unit on the battlefield loses 60% max HP or shield value in total (the lost amount cannot exceed 150% of the initial Team ATK), the opposing unit that dealt the most damage to that unit is deemed in violation of this rule. Each unit may violate this rule 5 times within 10s.

If the unit violating this rule is an ally, Contess also heals the allied unit for 200% HP in addition to the punishment.

In Boss battles, this rule is enforced differently: Every 10s, the unit with the most cumulative damage dealt on each side is considered in violation of this rule.

Active. Contess restores 150% + 20% HP to the 2 weakest allies, and reduces the ATK of the 2 enemies with the most cumulative damage dealt by 25% for 6s.

Unlocks at level 71: Increases the healing amount for allies to 180% + 20% when the skill is actively used.

Unlocks at level 131: Increases the healing amount for allies to 210% + 20% when the skill is actively used.

Unlocks at level 191: Increases the healing amount for allies to 240% + 20% when the skill is actively used.

Skill II

Quiet Period

Unlocks at level 31

Cooldown: 10s

Range: 10 Tiles

Code of Conduct - Be Quiet

Whenever a unit casts their Ultimate, that unit is deemed in violation of this rule. A unit may only violate this rule once every 6s.

Active. Contess reduces Energy recovery efficiency by 14% + 2% for the 2 enemies who have cast the most Ultimates. This effect lasts 6s.

Unlocks at level 91: Reduces enemies' Energy recovery efficiency by 16% + 2%.

Unlocks at level 151: Reduces enemies' Energy recovery efficiency by 18% + 2%.

Unlocks at level 211: Reduces enemies' Energy recovery efficiency by 20% + 2%.

Unlocks after reaching Legendary+

Cooldown: -

Range: 1 tile

When an enemy violates a school rule, Contess permanently reduces their ATK by 2% and Energy recovery efficiency by 1%. The reductions from this effect cannot exceed 10% for ATK and 5% for Energy recovery efficiency.

Level 2: When an enemy violates a school rule, Contess permanently reduces their ATK by 3% and Energy recovery efficiency by 2%. The reductions from this effect cannot exceed 15% for ATK and 10% for Energy recovery efficiency.

Level 3: When an enemy violates a school rule, Contess permanently reduces their ATK by 4% and Energy recovery efficiency by 3%. The reductions from this effect cannot exceed 20% for ATK and 15% for Energy recovery efficiency.

EX. Skill

Expulsion Notice

Unlocks after reaching Mythic+

Cooldown: -

Range: 10 Tiles

Contess permanently expels a unit when they're punished more than 6 times. Expelled units are permanently silenced, even if they are unaffected (ineffective against Bosses), and take 18% more HP loss. Allies granted Exemption by Contess are not affected by this effect.

Unlocks at Ex. Weapon +5: Expelled units take 20% more HP loss.

Unlocks at Ex. Weapon +10: Expelled units take 22% more HP loss.

Unlocks at Ex. Weapon +15: Permanently expelled enemies lose 30% HP per second, and 40% of the HP lost this way is converted into healing for Contess and her allies with Exemption.

Review

Review

Contess is an S-Level Hypogean Support who controls the battlefield through her "Code of Conduct", applying rules that punish both enemies and allies, though allies can gain exemption for added benefits.

Her Ultimate, Detention Pass, has Contess retreat into her rulebook, making her untargetable and unable to move or act while rapidly regenerating energy. Once full, she emerges to punish all rule-breakers. She can also rejoin the field early if an enemy violates a rule or if all allies are defeated. When activated, the skill heals all allies and grants them Exemption. Exempted allies convert excess HP (above 40%) into shields at a 3x rate, at the cost of reduced max HP. In auto-battle, if all allies are already Exempted, she instead targets the weakest ally.

Mandatory Civility enforces the rule "Be Civil", reducing the max HP of any unit that deals excessive damage to a single target. Enemies suffer the penalty outright, while allies are healed in addition to the penalty. In boss fights, the rule periodically targets the highest Damage Dealers on both sides. When used actively, it heals the two weakest allies and reduces the attack of the two highest-damaged enemies.

Quiet Period enforces "Be Quiet", marking any unit that casts an Ultimate as a violator (once every 6 seconds). When activated, it reduces the Energy generation of two enemies who recently used their Ultimates for 6 seconds.

At Mythic+, units punished more than six times are permanently Expelled — Silenced indefinitely and suffer increased HP loss (bosses are immune). Exempted allies are unaffected. At EX+15, Expelled enemies continuously lose HP, with part of that loss converted into healing for Contess and her Exempted allies.

At Supreme+, enemies who violate "Be Civil" are Stunned for 2 seconds, while those who violate "Be Quiet" are Silenced for 6 seconds. In boss battles, rule violations trigger an additional instance of punishment.

Performance in Various Game Modes
  • Story and AFK Stages - She doesn’t contribute much in this mode, as her mechanics aren’t well-suited for AFK stage pushing.

  • Dream Realm - Before Supreme+, Contess competes with other top-tier Dream Realm supports. However, once she hits Supreme+, her performance shifts significantly, as the extra punishment triggered by rule violations increases her supporting value.

  • PvP - Contess benefits a lot from having the fight go longer than usual, as she will exert more value in terms of healing, buffing and debuffing enemies - especially Silencing them. In both Arena and Supreme Arena, you can expect Contess to be widely used.

Investment
  • Legendary+ permanently decreases the ATK and Energy recovery efficiency of enemies who violated the rules.

  • Mythic+ permanently Silences units that violate the rules 6 times; allies with Exemption are not affected by this effect.

  • EX+ 15 makes Expelled enemies lose HP and convert it to healing for Contess and her allies with Exemption.

  • Supreme+ Stuns enemies who violate ‘Be Civil’ and Silences enemies who violate ‘Be Quiet’. Contess also punishes enemies an additional time when violating the rules.

Conclusion

Contess is a unit primarily suited for Dream Realm and PvP moving forward. You can begin investing in her early, though, before Mythic+, she’ll often be outperformed by other meta Dream Realm supports. Once she reaches Mythic+ and EX+15, she can compete. At Supreme+, she becomes a top-tier support that is best-in-slot on Dream Realm and PvP.
