Marilee is an A-Rank Lightbearer Marksman who has long fallen out of the meta, especially after the arrival of a character that made her pretty much obsolete.

Her Ultimate, Mid-air Shot, is simply a leap that deals damage to 2 nearby enemies. Moreso, it often puts Marilee in risky situations, leaping straight into enemy DPS where she can be quickly bursted down or focused, or even landing outside the range of any healing or sustain.

Her other two skills, Mighty Arrow and Hyperfocus, are passive abilities. Mighty Arrow causes every third Normal Attack to become empowered, dealing increased damage and briefly stunning the target. Hyperfocus grants bonus ATK and ATK SPD when there are no enemies nearby. Mid-air Shot cannot cause Marilee to leap out of Hyperfocus range during auto-battling. At Supreme+, Hyperfocus reduces the no-enemy range effect making it easier to gain.

At Mythic+, her Normal Attacks deal True damage once she reaches 6 stacks of Battlefield Learning. These stacks are gained by casting Mid-air Shot, or passively every 10 seconds at EX+5.

Now, for a quick overview of her performance in the various game modes:

  • Story and AFK stages - Marilee isn’t used much in this gamemode anymore, as there are other characters that can deal True Damage like Faramor that does her job much better.

  • Dream Realm - Marilee is still decent in this gamemode, just that current meta favors HP drain characters like Shemira that can scale in Endless mode.

  • PVP - Marilee is not used in PVP, as she takes too long to build up her damage, and usually dies without doing much.

Conclusion

Marilee is still a decent character, but her dominance has clearly diminished as the game progressed. These days, there’s rarely a good reason to pick her over more current options.

If you still want to invest in her, the best starting point is Mythic+, where she begins dealing true damage. From there, aim for EX+5 to improve her stacking, and eventually Supreme+ for stats and Hyperfocus consistency.

Pros & Cons
Pros

  • Consistent good damage as long as she has Hyperfocus.

Cons

  • More current options are simply better suited for today's content, leaving little reason to choose Marilee over other characters.

EX Investment

Since the

Temporal Essence
Temporal Essence
and
Twilight Essence
Twilight Essence
are very hard to obtain, you have to be really careful with the using them to upgrade the EX weapon. And in this guide we ordered all characters by the priority when it comes to how much they need investment in their EX weapon to work well and where should you stop to get the best bang for your buck.

Color explanation:

  • +X - where every character starts,
  • +X - the next step that you should do when investing into that character - for some characters this will be enough,
  • +X - the final step you should do when investing into that character - you can go beyond that later though once you have the Essences to spare.
