Perseus is an S-level Warrior of the Lightbearer faction. He specializes in dealing heavy AoE damage and Crowd Control to the enemy frontline while offering a wide range of temporary buffs that increase his own and his nearby allies’ tankiness.

Perseus’ Ultimate, “Divine Rend,” is a straightforward march that deals AoE damage 11 times to all adjacent enemies along the way. At the end of his 3-tile march, he bashes his shield to deal damage and Stun all enemies within a 1 tile radius. He also remains Unaffected for the duration of the attack.

When Perseus casts his “Spear-Shield Combo” skill, he swings his weapons in a circle to strike adjacent enemies. While dealing this damage, Perseus gains a Shield equal to 360% of his own Attack, plus 80% of the damage dealt. For the 6s that the Shield lasts, Perseus also increases his Attack Speed by 35.

Before Perseus takes heavy damage, all ground within a 1 tile radius becomes Fertile. Allies standing on this “Fertile Ground” will all receive increased Attack and Phys & Magic Defense. Perseus will draw power from his “Fertile Ground,” increasing his own max HP permanently by 60% when his HP drops below 40% for the first time. He also heals himself the same amount, but once the power is drawn, the ground withers away for the remainder of the battle.

Perseus’ Hero Focus increases his Attack up to two times, with the second increase occurring if allies have given him any temporary stat buff.

Similar to his Hero Focus, Perseus has an Exclusive Skill that allows him to greatly enhance any buffs he receives; with “Divine Grace,” all temporary buff effects given to Perseus by his allies are increased by 20%. He also increases Damage Dealt and decreases Damage Taken by 15% for each temporary buff, and can stack this effect up to 4 times.

At Supreme+, Perseus expands the range of his “Fertile Ground,” allowing allies within 2 tiles radius to obtain its effects.

Now, for a quick overview of his performance in various game modes:

  • Story/AFK Stages: Perseus has a kit that is well balanced in both damage and sturdiness, making him act as both a DPS and a Tank. He is an excellent choice to slot into any Mauler team for high deficit stage pushing, where heroes like Shakir, Mikola, Smokey or Koko can stack their buffing and shielding for Perseus to then further enhance.

  • Dream Realm: In terms of damage, Perseus has not yet shown the level of raw power needed to compete with Supports like Velara or DPS like Shemira, Faramor and now even Ravion in Pre-Endless; however, he has the potential to deliver against bosses like Nocturne Judicator, where stacking temporary buffs and debuffs are your key to success. More testing will also need to be done to assess his EX +10 True Damage skill against bosses on Endless Difficulty.

  • PVP: Perseus can easily become a force to be reckoned with, pairing exceptionally well with high burst PVP snipers like Athalia, Ravion,  Aliceth and Lily May. He also synergizes fiercely with buffers and Defense shredders like Thador, Lyca, Shakir, and Thoran. Perseus acts as a powerful Support by tanking damage and using Crowd Control, all while increasing the sturdiness of his allies. If Perseus is leveled to EX +10, allying him with at least 2 temporary stat buffers can make him a nearly unstoppable force, as his damage will then be converted to True Damage while he becomes Unaffected for at least 6s each time the skill is triggered.

Investment
  • Legendary+ increases Perseus’ ATK up to two times if Perseus is also receiving a temporary buff from an ally.

  • Mythic+ enhances all temporary stat buffs Perseus receives from allies by 20%, while simultaneously increasing his Damage Dealt and decreasing his Damage Taken.

  • At EX 10+ Perseus deals additional True Damage and becomes Unaffected upon receiving 2 temporary stat buffs.

  • At S+ Perseus expands the range of his “Fertile Ground” to reach a total of 2 tiles.

To maximize his potential, Perseus’ ideal investment is S+ EX +10. At this level Perseus will deal True Damage and gain Unaffected, two critical abilities that will allow him to both deal and tank the most damage during battle.

Conclusion

Perseus has shown impressive prowess in PVP from early testing and, if properly set up, performs well on both offense and defense. With Ravion, Zandrok and Lily May, Perseus is capable of both tanking and demolishing the enemy team due to the temporary buff enhancement he offers himself and his allies. For boss battles, Perseus has yet to dethrone any of the current meta, but his EX +10 skill has great potential to deliver during Endless Dream Realm.

Pros & Cons
Pros

  • Buffing and HP increase allows him to act as both DPS and Tank.

  • Can synergize with a wide variety of units who give temporary stat buffs.

  • AoE damage allows him to target multiple enemies, unlike Ravion or Aliceth who specialize in Single-Target attacks.

Cons

  • Depends on his allies to buff him for optimal performance, so focusing on taking out his buffers can make it much easier to defeat him.

  • Can be countered by units such as Hodgkin who have immunity to Physical damage.

  • Requires allies to be within close range in order to buff them, so Ranged DPS may not benefit easily.

EX Investment

Since the

Temporal Essence
Temporal Essence
and
Twilight Essence
Twilight Essence
are very hard to obtain, you have to be really careful with the using them to upgrade the EX weapon. And in this guide we ordered all characters by the priority when it comes to how much they need investment in their EX weapon to work well and where should you stop to get the best bang for your buck.

Color explanation:

  • +X - where every character starts,
  • +X - the next step that you should do when investing into that character - for some characters this will be enough,
  • +X - the final step you should do when investing into that character - you can go beyond that later though once you have the Essences to spare.
