Passive - Zanie has her max HP reduced by 15%. When a battle starts, she deploys 2 laser turrets, that inherit 140% of her max HP and 80% of her ATK. These turrets are immobile and unaffected. Each turret fires lasers at random enemies within 5 tiles, dealing damage equal to 100% of the laser turret's ATK. If the 2 turrets start the battle within 2 tiles of each other, they become linked, combining their energy to fire at the nearest enemy, dealing damage equal to 55% of the laser turrets' total ATK every 0.5s. This combined attack also reduces the target's shield value by up to 30% of the laser turrets' total ATK.

Active - Zanie increases ATK SPD by 15 + 4 and ATK by 20% + 2% for herself and her laser turrets for 10s. During this time, turret attacks deal extra damage equal to 3% of the target's current HP, up to 60% of the laser turret's ATK.

Unlocks at level 51: When actively used, increases ATK SPD by 20 + 4.

Unlocks at level 111: When actively used, increases ATK SPD by 25 + 4.

Unlocks at level 171: When actively used, increases ATK SPD by 30 + 4.

Passive - When a battle starts, Zanie builds a gun turret in front of her. The turret inherits 70% of her max HP and ATK. Its normal attack has a range of 3 tiles and deals damage equal to 100% + 10% of the gun turret's ATK, prioritizing the enemy closest to any laser turret. After 2 normal attacks, the gun turret charges up its next attack into a devastating heavy barrage that fires 6 consecutive rounds at the enemy. Each round deals damage equal to 50% of the gun turret's ATK, stuns the enemy for 0.5s, and knocks them back.

Unlocks at level 71: The gun turret now inherits 75% of Zanie's max HP and ATK.

Unlocks at level 131: The gun turret now inherits 80% of Zanie's max HP and ATK.

Unlocks at level 191: The gun turret now inherits 85% of Zanie's max HP and ATK.

Passive - When her gun turret is destroyed, Zanie moves to its remains to fully repair it and grant it a shield that can block 500% damage. She then returns to her original position. This effect can only be triggered once per battle.

Active - Zanie moves to the weakest laser turret to repair it, restoring 300% + 45% HP and granting it a shield that blocks 500% + 50% damage. Zanie then returns to her original position.

Unlocks at level 91: When actively used, increases HP restored to a turret to 350% + 45%.

Unlocks at level 151: When actively used, increases HP restored to a turret to 400% + 45%.

Unlocks at level 211: When actively used, increases HP restored to a turret to 450% + 45%.

Every 22s, Zanie upgrades one of her turrets, increasing its max HP and ATK by 40% and expanding its range by 1 tiles. She will prioritize the frontmost laser turret, and each turret can only be upgraded once per battle.

Unlocks at Ex. Weapon +5: Turret upgrade increases its max HP and ATK by 50%.

Unlocks at Ex. Weapon +10: Reduces this skill's cooldown to 15s.

Unlocks at Ex. Weapon +15: Turret upgrade increases its max HP and ATK by 60%.

When a laser turret hits an enemy, it burns them, reducing their ATK by 20% and dealing damage equal to 100% of the turret's ATK per second for 5s. The burn effect cannot stack. If the turret is linked to the other laser turret, the burn effect also reduces the enemy's Phys DEF by 30%.

Review

Zanie is a Lightbearer Marksman that uses turrets to deal heavy damage while also protecting herself and her backline allies. 

She has 3 turrets in total. Her Ultimate, Vein Pulse, lets the player place 2 Laser Turrets before battle that inherit part of Zanie's HP and ATK. These turrets have long range and hit random enemies, but if placed near each other, they link together and focus fire on a single target. At Supreme+, the Laser Turrets burn enemies, dealing damage over time while reducing their ATK and Phys DEF(if they're linked). 

Her skill Iron Defense places a Gun Turret in front of her at the start of battle, also inheriting her stats but with shorter range. These turrets will continue to exist even if Zanie is defeated.

When Zanie casts her Ultimate, she and her turrets gain Attack Speed and bonus damage based on the enemy's current HP. If the Gun Turret is destroyed, or a Laser Turret is weak, Field Repairs activates once per battle to restore it with healing and a shield.

Now, for a quick overview of her performance in the various game modes:

  • Story and AFK stages – A solid option for both DPS and frontlining roles thanks to her turrets.

  • Dream Realm – Decent pick overall, though not best in slot for any of the bosses.

  • PVP – Works well with heroes like Kulu and Dunlingr to control the early game where she's most vulnerable and needs time to ramp through turret upgrades, but even before that she already deals strong damage.

Investment

At Mythic+, Zanie unlocks Precision Overload, which upgrades a turret every 22 seconds, prioritizing laser turrets to boost max HP, ATK, and range with each turret upgraded once per battle. At EX Weapon +10, the upgrade cooldown is reduced to 15 seconds.

Conclusion

Zanie is a versatile hero who combines turret damage with frontline utility. While she may not be the strongest pick in every mode, she is never a bad option to consider. 

For investment, starting at Mythic+ is recommended to unlock her ability to upgrade turrets, followed by EX Weapon +10 to shorten the cooldown. EX Weapon +15 is a strong upgrade, especially for PvP, while Supreme+ adds valuable extra utility via burn, ATK Down, and Phys Def shred.

And in this guide we ordered all characters by the priority when it comes to how much they need investment in their EX weapon to work well and where should you stop to get the best bang for your buck.
