Review

Can you give a brief summary of this unit?

Nayuta is an excellent B2 character, capable of providing healing and damage buffs that rival the best B2s. Her teamwide ATK buff makes her good for story pushing and strengthening Nikkes without a lot of personal ATK, and her high amount of personal damage that transcends Siren's allows her to assist in clearing mobs, projectiles, and bosses' parts, especially if they are Wind-weak. You can witness her magnificence yourself on Kraken Anomaly Interception.

Compared to Crown, Nayuta doesn't offer the same amount of supportive buffs. She lacks the Shield and Reload Speed that Crown provides and also her Taunt + Immunity + S2 ATK DMG. However, she makes up for these through healing, Core Damage buffs, and personal damage. In most cases, these won't be enough to beat our King, but against Wind-weak enemies or in situations where her healing or AoE Burst is needed, her utilities will find value.

Since Nayuta provides ATK buff every Full Burst, she can technically also be used off-burst, although her efficacy will be very limited since she wants to Burst for personal damage. Hence, it is more likely that we see her being part of the main Burst cycle instead. Like with other B2s, she can be paired with a third DPS or a support, such as Crown (who is still good off-burst and her Burst can be used when Shield is crucial) or MastM. Mathematically speaking, for generic units (and against non-Wind-Weak), Crown + MastM is still the best duo combo, followed by Nayuta + Crown and Nayuta + MastM. Note that Reload Speed and Distributed DMG▲ have varying efficacy depending on the B3.

If you are using her solo and don't need heals, she is the second-best B2 in the game, right behind Crown. If you do need heals, however, she might take the lead by saving you from wasting one slot for a healer (or using HelmTr's Burst, which may or may not be desired). She should also be ahead of BAde and Grave because of the heal and lots of personal damage, but these two have Pierce buffs and better burst gen. When both of your B3s rely on Pierce or your team desperately needs burst gen, then Grave or BAde might take the lead. Nayuta being Wind also makes her better than every other B2, including Crown, against bosses (and other PvE content) that are Wind-weak.

All in all, we imagine her power level to be similar to MastM, slightly ahead of Grave and BAde but behind Crown. She is a useful unit to build for most content, although Crown will always take the first priority if compatible. This impression may change if ShiftUp decides to "shift" the meta in Nayuta's favor (introducing bosses that require healing, etc).

Where can I expect this unit to be used?

Everywhere, especially if you are not already using Crown. If you already have Crown, then in most cases, Crown + MastM will edge Nayuta out. This is because of their strong synergy between themselves (Reload Speed) and with Siren (double MGs). MastM's Burst at high stacks is also significantly stronger than Crown's, making pairing them profitable. However, if you don't have one of them or a stage requires healing, then Nayuta can be a replacement. Experiment with Nayuta + Crown, Crown + MastM, and Nayuta + MastM and see which one works best for you.

For Wind-weak Bossing requiring a singular team, Siren + Nayuta (+ Crown/MastM flex) is currently the best combo. For Wind-weak SR, we might see more team variations for Nayuta (since combining SBS + Liberalio + MastM + AnchorM is nearly guaranteed). She might be used in Cindy's Electric comp (to break Wind QTEs), in SG comp, or in flex comp (usually Liter + B2 that match the B3). She can also be used with MirandaTr in very specific setups to abuse Nayuta's damage through MirandaTr's guaranteed crit (infinite ammo counts as "not consuming ammo", so Nayuta's whole Burst will crit). In neutral SR, she will be used like any other universal B2s. In PvP, she can be used as a "better" Makima as a frontline/backline tanker, a B2 buffer, or a B2 nuke. However, her low burst gen and feeding tendencies may make her unwieldy. In Pilgrim Tower, she is one of the BiS units now alongside Crown (Siren + Nayuta + B3 + B3 + Crown).

Should I pull this unit, get duplicates, or use mileage?

Yes. You definitely should. All Pilgrims/Over-specs should be pulled by default because of their low 1% chance. Attempting to pull them outside their banner will be a nightmare, and this has affected many. Besides that, Nayuta's good, so there is no reason to skip her.

Obtaining duplicates can be a good idea if you are competitive (in Solo Raid). Nayuta has nice personal damage, and that extra base ATK stat will also improve her supportive capability. Not only that, you also get CP Padding, which will be useful if you use her in Campaign/PvP/Pilgrim Tower. On the other hand, if you are an F2P, are not bathing in hundreds of thousands of gems, or are not extra-competitive in Solo Raid, then one copy is enough. Do not pull duplicates.

Like for other 1% units, mileaging is the recommended acquisition method, not pulling through gacha. You should only pull if your Gold Mileage Ticket is below 200. Remember to also take account of Liberalio. You can also wait out the free daily pulls and see if you get one before the Solo Raid ends (if it ends, you miss the chance of using them). If you get one, then good, you've saved yourself a lot of gems/mileage.

Kit Analysis
Skill 1

As soon as the battle starts, Nayuta grants herself Indomitability for 9 seconds. Indomitability prevents a unit from getting killed but does not block damage. The unit's minimum HP will be 0, and unless their HP is above 0 when the period is over, they will die.

  • Indomitability is useless in PvE but useful in PvP for tanking in the frontline (P1) or backline (P5). She is similar to Makima in this regard, but since she is a support, she can be used without consuming Biscuit's charges, allowing two other Defenders to utilize them instead, creating a situation where 3 units are unkillable.

  • Indomitability can be dispelled by Rosanna if Nayuta is one of the two highest ATK Nikkes.

When Nayuta gains Memory Absorption via S2 (triggers every 3 seconds), she provides 25.15%▲ Core Damage, 30.16%▲ of the Caster's ATK, and HP recovery share for 5 secs. At the same time, she heals herself 25% of her final Max HP.

  • Core Damage is useful against bosses with core, but recently ShiftUp has been stingy with them. Fortunately, the next Solo Raid boss should feature a 24/7 core, which makes it Nayuta's battlefield. Core Damage is also useful against mobs because they always have core.

  • Caster's ATK is self-explanatory. A good amount and useful for countering stat penalty in High Deficit Campaign. The value is not as high as Maxwell's, Ada's, or Crown's S1, but it applies to the whole team. This can be ideal for some units/teams, such as those with Siren.

  • HP Recovery Share is a buff where affected units will share healing equally. In Siren's case, Siren heals herself 25% of her final Max HP. This 25% will be distributed equally among all units, each recovering 5%. This skill or indirect recovery, while this skill is active, cannot trigger skills that activate upon recovery, such as Crown's S2.

  • All these have a duration of 5 seconds. Since Memory Absorption triggers every 3 seconds, we can assume these are permanent until Nayuta dies.

Upon releasing a Full Charge (only possible during Burst Skill, where Nayuta's weapon transforms into a Sniper Rifle), Nayuta deals 150% of final ATK as full-screen damage that also deals 380.46% extra damage to stage targets. Stage targets are the bosses of a mob stage or any boss in the game.

  • The AoE allows Nayuta to clear squishy, annoying critters for you. You don't have to intentionally shoot at them and waste your time/ammo.

  • The increased damage against stage targets allows Nayuta to become a DPS even better than Siren and without the ridiculous requirement of having to pair with MGs.

Skill 2

Every 3 seconds, Nayuta gains a stack of Memory Absorption, boosting her Hit Rate by ▲1.4% and stacking up to 30 times.

  • This helps her more accurately land shots/core shots in SMG mode, but as a bursting B2, she is in her Sniper Rifle mode most of the time, making this Hit Rate pretty much useless. However, if you use her in SG teams in Solo Raid, which often adopts 20-second rotations, the Hit Rate may be useful.

  • The first stack is gained 3 seconds after the start of the fight, not at the 0th second.

  • Skill 1 is still triggered even after stacks are maxed.

  • Stack increasers/refreshers don’t work on this buff.

  • This effect cannot be dispelled, so Rosanna cannot dispel this buff.

Nayuta also grants herself various buffs depending on the number of stacks she has:

  • If she has 2 stacks (≥6 seconds): ATK ▲ 15.2% continuously.

    • Triggers almost immediately, so Nayuta can make use of this in mobbing, bossing, or even PvP.

  • If she has 10 stacks (≥33 seconds): Attack DMG ▲ 20.27% continuously.

    • Nayuta can definitely make use of this in bossing, but mobbing will depend on how long the stage is (you may need to delay).

    • It is unlikely that Nayuta can take advantage of it in PvP since most fights end before 33 seconds.

  • If she has 30 stacks (≥93 seconds): Core Damage ▲ 21.05% continuously.

    • Does not work in PvP because it doesn't have a core.

    • It cannot be utilized in mobbing because mob stages last at most 90 seconds.

    • Works for Bossing if the boss has core.

Burst Skill

Nayuta deals full-screen damage and transforms her weapon into a Sniper Rifle with a fixed charge time of 1.8s (fixed = cannot be affected by Charge Speed). For the next 10 seconds, she can fire infinite ammo of this weapon.

  • The full-screen damage is actually pretty good since she is also buffed by her teamwide and personal buffs.

  • The SR shots deal ~587.5% of final ATK to one target every 1.8s. This can core-hit, crit, and benefit from Damage Distance. It also triggers S1's attacks, but these can only crit.

  • A total of 5 S1 shots will be released during FB (you may mistake the first shot, but it’s actually her burst damage 645.33% ATK).

  • Burst shots fire immediately at 250% charge, whether there is a valid target or not.

  • Releasing the charge before 250% will cancel this attack entirely, not like other SR/RL that deal damage based on charge amount.

  • Infinite ammo means she can benefit from MirandaTr's specialty. MirandaTr's S2 doesn't see infinite ammo as consuming ammo. Hence, if you can make Nayuta get her S2's buff, all her Burst shots can crit, dramatically increasing her damage. However, this is hard to achieve since she is a Support (lower base ATK stat), but she has a ~15% self ATK buff that can help.

  • Infinite ammo refreshes ammo when it expires, so Nayuta can actually fight for 180s without reloading at all if rotations are 15 secs or shorter (takes 5 seconds to unload a base mag of 120). Optimizing this is not important in reality because her SMG basic attacks don't have damage.

Tier List & Usage Analysis
Surface: Currently not applicable.

We will make a Surface Tier List in the future once we get the hang of the game mode. We are planning to release a Surface Guide soon. For now, you can check our Skill Sheet.

Nayuta's skill in the Surface is "Increase Level of Firepower Skill", which currently includes only supportive ATK▲. She only affects supports in the same squad. This means Nayuta is ideally used in support squads with Firepower Skill (Trony, Noise, Aria, Rupee) to empower your DPS squads. You can use her in your DPS teams for achieving 5 units of the same element to trigger ELE skills or 5 units of the same damage distance category, but her skill will likely be wasted.

Campaign (LD): SSS | Campaign (HD): SS

Due to the new campaign difficulty, the Low Deficit tier list will be scrapped soon in favor of the new Surface mode. We have seen less and less value from maintaining it. We recommend using Campaign (High Deficit) instead.

Due to Nayuta’s and Liberalio’s impact, we will demote some units in higher tiers to better reflect Nayuta's superior strength in the meta.

In Low Deficit, Nayuta is a highly capable B2. Her AoE nukes, alongside her immense buffs, make her one of the best choices, comparable to Crown even. Whether you run her as a solo B2 or together with Crown/MastM, you can expect to climb into higher deficits with her. If you are a new player without a good B2 (still using Anis, for example), Nayuta will feel like a cheat code for you. If you already have Crown, you can experiment and see if Nayuta + Crown combo can push you further.

Nayuta's only problem starts as she gets into extremely high deficits, like above 40% where her damage now starts to tickle. At that point, team buffs from like Crown and shields and outright immunity will become relatively more valuable. Before then, it is fine to use Nayuta as a solo B2. After things get rough, you may need extra assistance from another buffer. This buffer may be Crown, MastM, Maxwell, Ada Wong, or HelmTr, with higher priority toward ATK buffers. Note that HelmTr is less ideal with Nayuta than with Crown due to the missing S2 synergy. And Crown + off-burst is likely a better combo than Nayuta + off-burst. That said, you only have access to Nayuta + Crown in Pilgrim Tower, so they might just be the BiS there.

Special mention: Crown Naga vs Nayuta Crown. This is not easy to calculate. Crown & Naga provide the team with an extra Core Damage buff that is insanely good with core-dependent B3. Meanwhile, Nayuta + Crown gives more ATK buff that can help offset stat penalty, provide AoE support, and synergize with all B3 (whether core-dependent or not). While Naga theoretically has the highest peak damage, Nayuta might be better and more comfortable. Core-dependent = units whose damage is mostly from direct basic attack damage, not skill damage.

Bossing: SS

Due to Nayuta’s and Liberalio’s impact, we will demote some units in higher tiers to better reflect Nayuta's superior strength in the meta.

Nayuta is not on the same level as Crown, but she is not far behind. Her supportive buffs are weaker, but she makes up for them through healing and personal damage. Against Wind-weak specifically, where her damage is amplified, Nayuta becomes the best B2. Nayuta will also be one of the best B2 if a boss demands healing (shield is not enough). Nayuta also makes Boss (adds) look like a joke with her continuous wipes. Remember Harvester?

It seems Nayuta is a can-do-all B2, but this is incorrect. She has a direct counter, and that is the lack of a shield. Some bosses like Kraken and Ultra still require shields because of how much instant damage they can inflict, which will absolutely one-shot and not give you a chance to heal. To solve this, usually people run Nayuta + Crown and trigger Crown's Burst (which is objectively weaker than Nayuta's) just before these attacks. Is running Nayuta + Crown smarter than running Crown + MastM, though? Probably not for some B3 or bosses (esp. outside Wind-weak), but if you don't have MastM, you don't have a choice. Crown's S1 will also make Nayuta hit like a truck every Burst because she is "always" in the rotation. That said, it is very, very likely that Nayuta will not be used with Crown in Solo Raid to spread out buffers.

As a solo B2 and for generic DPS (and against non-Wind-Weak), the power level should be Crown > Nayuta > BAde > Grave, unless burst gen is needed. For Pierce DPS, BAde/Grave might take the lead. In terms of duos, Crown + MastM > Nayuta + Crown ≥ Nayuta + MastM. MastM synergizes pretty well with Distributed Damage dealers. Out of all of them, only Nayuta can provide healing (and HelmTr and Naga if those count). Crown Naga may surpass most, if not all of them, if the boss has a perma core and you use core-dependent B3.

You may need this cheat sheet in Solo Raids and Union Raids, as we will start seeing her being preferred over other B2s, especially Mari, now that she is old and has the cumbersome requirement of hitting a core. Just like Crown, she could be in the SG team, Cindy team (to break Wind QTEs mainly), flex team, etc. Nayuta also has synergy with MirandaTr for crit abuse, which may see use in Wind-weak, but tweaking your investments to allow this to happen can be expensive. You will need MirandaTr, a CDR, and ideally 2 B3 that don't give themselves ATK (MiharaBC, HelmTr, SSakura, Maxwell). In Union Raids, especially, it is very comforting knowing there is a Crown-level B2 unit for an element (i.e. against Wind Weak bosses)! This is huge since it frees up Crown for other elements, since she practically wants to be used on every element.

PvP: S

Nayuta's kit looks like that of a PvP Goddess, but in reality, her special traits are not so important in the current meta. PvP has been revolving around protecting the frontline/backline (from Sniper Rifles and SGs), but also the whole team. Some teams sacrifice protection for better offense (i.e. Scarlet team), and some sacrifice offense for better defense (i.e. stall team). The problem with her is that she is a B2 that doesn't offer team protection. She is only a tank. What is the purpose of her surviving but the team dying? Unless you are doing that to wait out Mihara's DoT, there is simply no reason for using her. However, she is still a better Makima, can buff the team, and has a notable nuke herself.

She can also tank without consuming Biscuit's charges, which can create some interesting triple-immortal teams. One example is the slow Rumani MiharaBC Biscuit Cindy Nayuta team. In this team, Nayuta's Indomitability can help tank against defending SGs without consuming Biscuit's charges, saving it for somebody else. Using this comp also saves Blanc for other teams, which can be a good incentive.

In all cases, Nayuta has bad burst gen. As an SMG, she feeds and can accelerate Scarlet's and Jackal's burst generation. Her indomitability can also be dispelled by Rosanna unless there are 2 other units with higher ATK than her (incl. OL). If she is dispelled, TVesti can one-shot her due to elemental advantage. She also cannot give Nero Damage Reduction for the same reason, as she can't buff Crown. If any of these matters to you, be careful of potential counters in CA/SpA and adjust your team & gear accordingly.

Investments
Gear Investments

Nayuta deals a lot of personal damage, and her supportive buff scales off the Caster's ATK. High gear level and OL quality are warranted. However, if you are not ready to invest in her damage yet, you can delay rerolling OL and focus on gear level. Otherwise, pursue:

  • Elemental DMG (highest priority) to boost her impact against Wind-weak, where her damage will be the most relevant.

  • ATK (second priority) to boost her damage in all elements and increase versatility against all content, including Campaign and Pilgrim Tower.

  • Crit DMG/Crit Rate/Charge Damage (fillers) to slightly boost her damage. Not needed; better to skip and go next unless they come naturally. Crit DMG is better than the rest due to crit synergy with MastM, MirandaTr, or ToveTr.

  • Other high-level lines (as fillers) to pad her CP, even if they are useless, as long as they come up naturally. Can be kept for Campaign/Pilgrim Tower/PvP.

Nayuta does not need Max Ammo or Charge Speed. She can't scale with the latter and does not benefit from Max Ammo at all in fast rotations.

  • Ideal: 4× ELE, 4× ATK

  • Fillers: 4× Crit DMG, 4× Crit Rate, 4× Charge Damage

  • Priority: Very High

Skill Investments

Nayuta is a support, so she is skill-first. Despite that, you can skip Skill 2 if you're not ready to invest in her DPS yet. Prioritize S1 & Burst Skill then S2 if she is Bursting, otherwise S1 only (there is no reason to do this unless you already have Crown's Burst at 10 and want to save materials, but as an off-burst, Nayuta is not better than many others and is worse than MastM; she is also split from Crown in Raids).

  • Skill 1: 10

    • Gives teamwide offensive buff, increases healing, and improves personal damage.

    • Useful in PvP.

  • Skill 2: 5~10

    • Improves personal damage, mainly if Burst is used.

    • Reduced benefit in shorter fights.

    • The first ability may be triggered in PvP pre-Full Burst.

  • Burst Skill: 10

    • Gives notable teamwide ATK DMG buff.

    • Increases personal damage when Bursting.

    • Not needed in PvP unless she Bursts.

Cube Investments

Nayuta doesn't need sophisticated cubes. Theoretically, she scales best with Destruction in PvE (since Bastion/Resilience does almost nothing) and Vigor in PvP (since she has Indomitability, unless dispelled). However, these aren't really the first cubes people invest in, and most people only leave them at 7 if they do. Hence, our recommendation is:

  • For PvE, stick to your highest level cube for higher base ATK stat and ELE, unless you can test that, for a certain boss (with [durable] parts), your Destruction brings more team damage.

  • For PvP, stick to your highest level cube or use Vigor/Tempering. It probably doesn't matter much in the end.

Doll Investments

She is definitely worth SR 15. Good personal damage. Supportive buff scales off caster's base ATK. Maybe not as important as some DPS units, but they are definitely top-notch. It is also an immediate necessity if the next Raid is Wind-weak.

If you lack resources, SR 5 is a good stopping point. Upgrade to SR 15 when resources allow, when you need more CP, or when the next Wind-weak Raid comes.

Review
Pros

  • The strongest B2 DPS unless Pierce-heaven.

  • Buffs might seem underwhelming, but they are actually very impactful.

  • Offers an acceptable level of healing.

  • A very powerful AoE cleaner, especially on stages or against bosses with lots of mobs, but the damage is similar to SBS’s “distributed” damage when a lot of mobs are around.

  • Best B2 for Wind weak content.

  • Strongest rage baiter huzzah huzzah huzzah.

  • I thought this was a sci-fi-based game? Why does she summon Heavenly Palm?

  • Skin appreciation post.

Cons

  • She requires tons of investment to be meta, compared to other B2s, which mostly require skills only. They pay off, though.

  • Power and value drop against targets without a core.

  • The value of Nayuta goes up and down depending on element, pierce and burst generation requirements. She competes fiercely with Ade and Grave in non-wind elements.

  • Even on targets with core, she needs 90s to ramp up her personal core damage buff, rendering parts of her kit useless in campaign stages.

  • Interesting choice of skillsets by ShiftUp this year, since they did not release any hyper meta Pilgrims/OS units on either anniversary, the last hyper-meta, game-defining pilgrim being Rapi, a new year unit instead of being an anniversary unit.

  • English Intern overslept on release day, which resulted in tons of typos.

Investment Tips

Skill Investment

Here's the explanation for all the numbers and colors used in the guide:

  • 10/5/7 means upgrading Skill 1 to lvl 10, Skill 2 to lvl 5, and Burst Skill to lvl 7,
  • Yellow means the immediate investment when u get the unit. There are 3 reasons for this:
    • If the unit is Meta or High Priority, it will have a starting investment of more than 1/1/1 (such as 4/4/4) depending on what the unit provides.
    • If the unit is Medium or Low Priority, 1/1/1 will be mentioned, meaning no immediate investment is required, and you can invest in this character if you need to use it according to the priority listed.
    • If we deem that a unit does not have usable skills to be meta for any gamemode, no investment will be mentioned.
  • Blue means minimum investment to take advantage of the Nikke's skills. There are 2 reasons for this:
    • Sometimes, minimum investments are breakpoints such as for Noir or SAnis.
    • Sometimes, minimum investments are just the ideal way to progress to upgrade that unit, before moving on to Recommended and High.
  • Red means recommended investment for F2P players,
  • Purple means maximum recommended investment, in order to get the best out of the unit. You should only try to reach these investments if you have a surplus of Skill Books leftover.

More info:

  • The skill investment list below features a lot of Level 4 and 7 because they are easier to understand. Any higher levels will cost a new type of resource.
  • However, you may choose to upgrade to Level 5 if you need a stronger effect instead of 4, as the increase in Blue Manual cost from Level 4 to 5 is still low. The leap only starts from Level 6 onward.
  • There is also a leap from Level 3 to 4, so if you want to save a tiny bit of Blue Manuals, then leave at 3 instead of 4.
Gear Investment

This Overload (OL) Recommendations and Priority guide unravels in detail everything you need about a character in terms of priority, overload targets (effects), and order of acquisition, alongside some notes to explain our thinking process.

For OL targets and order of acquisition, we decided to divide the target effects into several categories.

  • Essential: With all gear combined, your unit must have the roll(s) prescribed as a minimum requirement. Example: Charge Speed on Alice. You cannot compromise on these rolls.
  • Ideal: These rolls will improve your unit's performance significantly. Aim for 2 lines of Essential/Ideal per gear for maximum performance and the best Return on Investment (ROI). If you get 3, you are lucky. You can choose to only have 1 as well to save materials. Example: Elemental Damage on Scarlet.
  • Passable: Low-priority line that has either limited value or the impact is not as strong as other rolls. Should this show up as a bonus together with a better line, you can choose to keep them. Example: Charge Speed on Red Hood.

Overload effects are ordered by importance from Left to Right, which means anything on the left provides more value than the right. Effects that belong to the same group generate too similar an impact to make a difference (and are sometimes interchangeable). Try to follow this order as faithfully as possible for maximum mileage.

Additional tips:

  • Priority (PvE/PvP) isn't necessarily lower than Priority (Universal), which has no tag/label. It just indicates that this unit performs only in select types of content.
  • If a suggested effect has the number ×2 next to it, that means you should get the effect on at least 2 gear. The same idea applies to other numbers.
  • Focus on obtaining Essential(s) then you can start worrying about optimizing your rolls. Units require these to function, and the impact is too massive to ignore.
  • If a unit has no Essential(s), that means their performance is not that dependent on OL, but they can still benefit from good effects.
  • Remember that this is just a recommendation list, and attaining perfection is impossible. You will have to make some compromise, pick whichever rolls you desire the most, and conserve as much material as possible.

About the team

3 RL nuke version featuring Rei and doesn't need Blanc + Jackal. Rei burst on Nayuta buff + Nayuta burst damage herself should be enough to wipe everyone out. You may want a Tempering cube + SR 15 doll on Rapunzel to avoid her dying too soon. Laplace can be replaced by XMaiden but you will need Quantum cube lv 7 on both Emilia + Maiden.
