There is a new archetype in almost every patch, and with it comes a DPS who leads that archetype. In this case, Beryl serves as the main DPS for the Lingering Glow team. To quickly recap the archetype, it is essentially a reinvented version of Burn, using new statuses like [Halo] and [Lingering Glow] count, and overall it is much stronger than the original Burn. You gain [Lingering Glow] stacks by applying [Burn] or [Halo]. The fewer enemies there are, the more [Lingering Glow] is accumulated. It also cannot coexist with [Bloodtithe], so keep that in mind.

Now, onto Beryl. She has a wide variety of playstyles, ranging from pure Glow to follow-up-focused builds, making her very versatile. She is also a strong character overall. When entering battle, you can select three Emanation crystals (Blue, Purple, and Green), each of which can be chosen up to two times. These act as modifiers that change how Beryl functions for the entire fight. This is probably the most important part of her kit to remember; the rest is fairly typical.

Destined Doom is a mass attack that triggers when enough [Lingering Glow] is accumulated. It also deals additional damage to the enemy with the highest [Halo] and increases Incantation Might based on [Vision] stacks, which you generate from your “Nothing Unexpected” buff skill. Returning to the different emanations, each adds an additional effect:

  • Emanation of Blue: Has a chance to trigger [Destined Doom] again.

  • Emanation of Purple: Deals additional Mental DMG based on [Lingering Glow].

  • Emanation of Green: Deals additional Mental DMG and increases its Rank.

That is not the only time the emanations matter. Beryl’s Mirrored from Above status, which she gains upon entering battle, is a forcefield effect, and each Emanation crystal grants a unique bonus:

  • Emanation of Blue: When attacking with an Extra Action, inflict 1 stack of [Halo] on the target.

  • Emanation of Purple: When actively attacking, inflict 2 stacks of [Halo] on the target.

  • Emanation of Green: When attacking with a rank 2 or 3 incantation, inflict 1 or 2 stacks of [Halo] on the target.

Starting from the second turn, Beryl also generates 1 [Multicolor Emanation] Precast Incantation, which randomly produces an incantation. Based on the number of each Emanation crystal equipped, you gain the following effects:

  • Emanation of Blue: Grants Beryl a count toward triggering [Destined Doom].

  • Emanation of Purple: Grants Beryl [Vision].

  • Emanation of Green: Increases the Rank of subsequent incantations in the AP area.

That was pretty wordy, but it is also one of the more oddly complex parts of her kit to remember. Other than that, she is not very complicated to use. Much of her kit functions simply by existing and using her own buff. Your main gameplay goal is to build up [Lingering Glow] by applying Halo and having your teammates do the same, allowing you to cast [Destined Doom] for damage, while using your selected Emanations for various advantages. To quickly summarize those again: Blue strengthens follow-up attacks and [Destined Doom] triggers, Purple boosts [Halo] infliction for faster Glow stacking, and Green increases incantation Rank. And lastly, her Ultimate, “Shimmering Night,” is something you want to use consistently, as it redistributes all enemies’ [Halo] stacks based on their current HP without exceeding [Halo]’s maximum stack limit. This is important because there is a stack limit for [Halos] of 30, and using it helps maintain her effects and maximize [Lingering Glow] accumulation.

Pros & Cons
Pros

  • Core Lingering Glow team member and DPS. Applies a large amount of Halo.

  • Emanation gives her many options in battle, including additional follow-ups, crit rate boosts, AP rank-ups, and more.

  • Can prevent Halo from overstacking.

  • A strong and easy-to-use DPS once you learn her Emanations.

Cons

  • Not all Emanations can be selected; only two
