Intro
Upgrading characters is pretty simple and straightforward in Arknights: Endfield. The process is further improved by the AFK farming enabled by your production lines and Dijang, not to mention, the minimal RNG also lessens the burden of building a character by a lot when compared to similar titles.
Operator Attributes
Each operator has one main attribute and one secondary attribute. The main attribute grants a large bonus to the Operator’s Attack, while the secondary attribute grants a smaller bonus to Attack. It’s possible to identify which one is the main attribute and which one is the secondary by checking the yellow and gray highlight, respectively.
Attributes can be classified as:
- Strength: Influences the Operator’s Max HP.
- Agility: Affects the Operator’s Physical DMG Reduction.
- Intellect: Affects the Operator’s Arts DMG Reduction.
- Will: Influences the amount of treatment (healing) received by the Operator.
Operator Level and Promotion

- Operators can go up to level 99, and every few levels they go through a Promotion at levels 20, 40, 60, 80.
- Increasing an Operator level also increases their base stats, HP and ATK.
- Promoting an Operator unlocks new Talent Nodes, and increases the Max Rank of their skills.
- An Operator needs to reach Elite 4 Promotion in order to unlock the Mastery levels of their skills.
- Leveling an Operator from level 1-60 uses Combat Records as its material, while from level 61-99, it uses Cognitive Carrier instead.
- The total cost to upgrade an Operator to each threshold are:
- Level 20: 22,860 EXP and 820 T-Creds;
- Level 40: 271,400 EXP and 13,360 T-Creds;
- Level 60: 747,110 EXP and 37,260 T-Creds;
- Level 80: 1,313,610 EXP and 170,150 T-Creds;
- Level 99: 3,081,070 EXP and 1,122,310 T-Creds.
- The cost for each Promotion tier are:
- Elite 1: 1600 T-Creds, 8 Protodisk, 3 Pink Bolete and Operator Level 20;
- Elite 2: 6500 T-Creds, 25 Protodisk, 5 Red Bolete, Operator Level 40 and Outfitting I;
- Elite 3: 25000 T-Creds, 40 Protoset, 5 Ruby Bolete, Operator Level 60 and Outfitting II;
- Elite 4: 225000 T-Creds, 75 Protoset, 8 Vitrified Plants, 56 Rare Progression Materials, Operator Level 80 and Outfitting III;
- Between each Promotion tier, there’s an “Outfitting” Node. Unlocking it allows the Operator to equip better quality gear (Blue > Purple > Gold). Unlocking the Outfitting Nodes costs only T-Creds, respectively 1800, 6500 and 25600, totalling 33900 T-Creds.
- “Ability Matrix” refers to the ensemble of an Operator’s Basic Attack, Battle Skill, Combo Skill and Ultimate. Each one can go up to Mastery 3 (M3), thus reaching a total of 12 levels.
- In order to get an ability to the maximum level, the total amount of materials needed is:
- 172200 T-Creds, 82 Protoprism, 130 Protohedron, 3 Kalkodendra, 4 Chrysodendra, 4 Vitrodendra, 6 Mark of Perseverance, 21 Valuable Vitrified Plants, and 59 Rare Progression Materials.
Operator Potentials

“Dupes” in Arknights: Endfield are called “Potentials”. Each Operator can reach up to Potential 5 (or Pot5), which means that you need to get an Operator six times in order to reach their maximum potential. While not as low in value as the Potentials in the original “Arknights”, dupes in Endfield aren’t needed to unlock parts of a character kit. They merely give bonuses to certain abilities and attributes, as well as having the unique feature of unlocking special illustrations at Pot1, Pot3 and Pot5. The illustrations can be displayed at your reception room.
Weapons
There are five types of weapons: Swords, Greatswords, Polearms, Handcannons, and Arts Units. Much like Operators, Weapons can also be upgraded up to level 99, and have Tuning as their equivalent to Promotions, going up to Stage 4, or “Tuning 4”/”T4”. Similar to Operators, they can also go up to Potential 5/Pot5.
Each Operator also has a “signature weapon” of equivalent rarity. This means that 5-star operators have signature 5-star weapons, while 6-star operators have signature 6-star weapons. Despite that, signature weapons aren’t limited to their respective Operator, and can be used by any Operator who wields that specific type of weapon. Similarly, an Operator doesn’t necessarily need to equip their signature weapon in order to perform well.
Weapons also have up to three Passives, depending on their rarity. Each Passive can have up to 9 pips, who can be unlocked through Tuning and Potential, and improved by imbuing Essences into the Weapon.

Where to get Promotion and Tuning Materials
Aside from farming them in the OMV Dijang, the materials can be found are rare sites in the following maps:
- Elite 1 and Tuning 1: The Hub
- Elite 2 and Tuning 2: Originium Science Park, Origin Lodespring
- Elite 3 and Tuning 3: Power Plateau, Jingyu Valley
- Elite 4 and Tuning 4: Wuling Outskirts, Wuling City
Gear
Gear can be obtained by crafting using Components from the Gearing Unit in the AIC along with Stockbills. At lower level, the recipes are unlocked automatically as you level up your account. As progress advances, however, more advanced gear set recipes need to be found through exploring the world. Furthermore, Golden tier gear can be improved through the Gear Artificing system unlocked in Wuling City.
Operators can equip one armor, one set of gloves, two kits and one Tactical. Most sets have effects for when there are two pieces and three pieces equipped. The kits equipped can be two of the same (they stack) or two different pieces, depending on the Operator’s needs. The same Tactical can be equipped across several operators, and up to three units will be used per battle.

Artificing
Artificing allows you to further improve your gear. Check the video below to learn about the system:
Essences
Essences can be farmed by spending Sanity at active Energy Alluvium sites. It’s recommended to set weapon facilities (turrets) around these spots in order to make farming easier and faster. Although Essences represent the only RNG aspect of upgrading and building a character in Endfield, this RNG aspect is still fairly lenient. You can preview which Essences may drop from each site, and farm according to your specific needs. Beyond that, it’s also possible to spend tickets to narrow down the specific Attributes and Skill Stats that may come in the Essence you’re farming.
Once you get one with the specifics you want, use the Essence Etching system to sacrifice unwanted Essences and use them as fodder to upgrade the Essence with the desired stats.
