Veronika is a pure RNG unit, with a very low floor and a very high ceiling.

Her S3 has an 80% chance to steal all buffs from the enemies, and a 100% chance to spread it to all allies. Thanks to it being 100%, it gives her many options and can make her the scariest unit on certain teams as long as the 80% chance procs. Despite her low base Speed, she is quite quick as whenever she is attacked, her [Broken Branch] passive activates and gives her 35% Turn Meter (once per turn).

She also has an AOE shield, giving her and the team some extra survivability, coupled with the potential cheat death mechanic on her S3. You can actually create 'immortal' teams if you pair her with characters that can extend the duration of buffs, but sadly, their damage isn't that impressive, as you sacrifice a lot of slots for them. Still, the teams can beat any content, but it will take a lot of time.

All in all, however, her S3 buff steal is where the meat of her kit really is; with a little bit of luck (due to the innate 10% resist chance), Veronika can win you matches. Paired with that Turn meter buff, she can definitely be a great counter to some stall teams.

Veronika works best in PVP, against units who thrive from applying a lot of buffs, such as Tsukiyo Mi, Lily, or Freya. Or, you can go for a slower comp with a unit like Rahu or Helkid and instead let Veronika be quick. Working Veronika alongside debuffers, like Freya or Heinrich, also allows you to get max value if the RNG is on your side.

Pros & Cons
Pros

  • Can win you battles in PVP with her S3 alone,

  • Cheat Death mechanic - you can build immortal teams with her and buff extenders.

Cons

  • Not that many uses in PVE - outside of when you need a dispeller, but there's plenty of SR options for that.

Best Build

The builds below are tailored more toward PVE and we only mention PVP in some places - like for alternative Shells or Module choices. But PVE is our focus.

Best Shells

1

Before the owner acts, unleashes the owner Animus' full potential making their next skill cost no CD and increasing their SPD by an additional 10% for 2 turn(s). In PvP modes, after being affected by Codex of Magic, skills that did not go on cooldown will have their maximum cooldown permanently increased by 1 turn. (a single skill can only be affected once by this increase).

The cooldown of the skill can't be reduced.

An absurdly strong combo Shell that allows the wearer to skip the cooldown of the ability used on the turn this Shell is active. The wearer can use their ultimate or skill twice back to back, unlocking usually impossible personal and team combos. Also grants the wearer a 10% SPD boost after use for 2 turns. Mainly used in PvE burst/combo compositions or PVP. Can be used on both Supports and DPS situationally.

Codex of Magic is her best option in short fights.

After the original takes action, has a 100% chance to reduce the CD of 1 random skills on cooldown by 1 turn(s).

Allows you to reduce cooldown of a random ability, improving the cycling abilities of the character.

Halloween is a strong option for her to help her cycle her skills faster.

After the main body's turn, a Follow-up Attack on the main target dealing 240%+4200 damage, applies [SPD+] for 3 turns to the main Animus, applies and increases their Turn Meter by 25%.

Widely used and incredibly potent all-around supportive option, granting a 25% gauge boost on use as well as [SPD+] boost with 100% uptime. It also deals decent damage when used. Possesses most of the best supportive matrixes, further adding to its flexibility and wide use cases. Loses most of its value when used in teams that already have a team member granting the [SPD+] buff with good uptime.

Support Build - Allows them to cycle their skills faster due to the Speed buff, as well as nice extra damage from the extra Attack it provides.

PVP Setup

Below you can find some alternative setups you can use, but only in PVP.

1

After the original takes action, has a 100% chance to reduce the CD of 1 random skills on cooldown by 1 turn(s).

Allows you to reduce cooldown of a random ability, improving the cycling abilities of the character.

Her best in slot Shell if you can get the Speed to make her relevant for both archetypes.

2

Triggers when the main body takes DMG greater than 25% of Max HP within a turn, healing the main body for 25% Max HP and increasing Turn Meter progress by 35%.

A strong personal sustain option for characters, granting them a 25% max HP restore and 25% gauge boost upon taking hits within a single turn greater than 25% of their max HP (on a 2-turn cooldown). Has situational use in PVE but shines the most in PVP, granting your teams extra healing and gauge boost on a semi-frequent cooldown.

Great if you want a low investment Veronika, to answer any form of Cleave setups

Less useful these days, but good for fast Veronikas that want to double Skill 3 to keep their team in Soul Ward.

Stat comments

Veronika is an interesting character who can be very strong in some niche situations with her S3 alone, which can be played in 2 different ways. First, being the first one to move and stealing the boss buffs to your party. Second, being the slowest of your team to both steal the boss and protect the team.

  • SPD: Probably her most important stat since she is normally used as the first in your team to strip the boss of buffs like Immunity.
  • HP%: Good stat for her since her S2 scales with her max HP and after using it, it will give a good Shield to allies.
  • Effect ACC: If u plan on using her as your main stripper/dispeler, it's important to have a good amount of Effect ACC to help you not miss.
Stat comments (PVP)

Veronika can be built in one of 2 ways. First, she can be a fast anti-Cleave unit or she can be a Bruiser doing damage with her maxed Skill 2.

  • Main Stats:
    • SPD: Needs to be fast in order to cycle Skills or cut as an Anti Cleaver.
    • HP: Needed for better damage on her Skill 2 and better survivability vs Cleave.
    • Effect ACC: Lets you land more Skill 3 strips and gives more buffs to teammates.
  • Conditional Stats:
    • DEF: Nice to have for extra tank stats but not mandatory.

Comments

For PVE, no need to level up skills. While S3 lv can help with consistency, not worth it. For PVP Low investment Veronika is either 1-1-3 or 4-1-3 for the anti-Cleave Lighthouse setup. For Bruisers, you need a Max Skill 2 and Speed from Skill 1.
