Pros & Cons
Pros

  • One of the most diverse kits in the game - can perform all roles to some degree;

  • Operates as a one-woman army in the overworld thanks to her kit having reasonable damage, good shields, and self-healing;

  • Has the best grouping in the game via her ultimate;

  • One of the easiest characters to use in the game;

  • Gives free parries via her skill which can allow her to completely ignore certain boss mechanics.

Cons

  • Ultimate jack of all trades, master of none. No effective use in the meta aside from grouping in spite of being able to fit all roles in a team;

  • She stays completely still during her Forte channeling, which often causes her to lose some team damage or lose a bit of the shield she generates as she performs it;

  • Her damaging weapon options are difficult to acquire (albeit not necessary when playing her as a support);

  • Unable to do many useful things when her ultimate is on cooldown;

  • Takes up a large amount of field time to provide her shields and buffs (long forte circuit channeling, slow concerto rotation);

  • The free parry mechanic can be detrimental as it may notably prevent you from staggering enemies, especially bosses;

  • Her survivability scales more heavily than others based on her investment which is a problem for a support character.

Review

Jianxin is a 5-star Aero Gauntlet character that can fit absolutely every role: DPS, Hybrid, Support. She can have a position as all of them at varying degrees of success, and this solidifies her as the ultimate multi-purpose character.

This makes her amazing for any Overworld content: she can group enemies, she can generate shields, she can heal herself, she can deal passable damage. Arguably the worst as a DPS, usable as a Hybrid but mostly being useful as a Support, most people tend to judge her based on her Support grouping capabilities in endgame content. However, do keep in mind she is amazing as a comfort Hybrid option in the overworld; arguably one of the best at that.

Jianxin has a few points of interest: her Outro skill, her Forte circuit, her Resonance Skill, and most importantly her Ultimate.

The simplest of these is her Resonance Skill: entering a Parry stance when using it, she is able to counter any enemy attack that comes at her, generating Concerto energy along with a good chunk of her Forte bar. This comes at a problem: requiring you to know when an enemy is going to attack to optimize its usage, which would simply be met with a regular dodge anyways and as a result serving little purpose, and making you forfeit a potential parry, reducing the rate at which you reduce the enemy’s stagger bar.

Her Outro skill amplifies the Resonance Liberation damage for the next resonator you Intro into by 38%, which is a huge multiplier for characters such as Calcharo and Xiangli Yao who primarily deal that type of damage. However, Jianxin has trouble generating the Concerto energy that gets her there in the first place: as a result, this Outro skill sees little use, especially when considering both of the characters mentioned earlier can enjoy quickswapping to an extent, which this Outro is incompatible with as it expires on swap.

Her Forte circuit is one of her kit’s fundamentals, as it allows her to heal herself, enter a stance that reduces all incoming damage by 50% (which can stack up with other damage reduction buffs, such as the Bell-Borne Geochelone which completely nullifies all incoming damage for 3 hits), deal a good chunk of sustained damage to enemies in a small radius, and most importantly generate one of the most potent shields in the game after 6 seconds of channeling in place, which can prove very useful for sustainability purposes. However, the aforementioned 6 seconds of channeling are a big problem: enemies can and will often move out of the range, the time is wasted by lengthening a rotation of an often supportive character who most likely deals little damage (depending on her build), and staying in place tanking enemy hits often shreds a good chunk of the shield - not to mention, it’s entirely unusable in Hologram boss fights unless paired with the Bell-Borne Geochelone echo, in which you aren’t guaranteed to be able to withstand hits for 6 seconds - which defeats the purpose in certain situations.

Finally, the only part of her kit that isn’t problematic much is her Ultimate, which pulls in enemies while dealing constant damage for roughly 3 seconds. While it comes at a hefty cost of 150 Resonance Energy to cast, that can be patched up by running higher Energy Regen echoes; the short enough 20-second cooldown isn’t problematic, the pull range is generous while not being perfect, and it generates a good amount of Concerto Energy which allows her to access her Outro skill faster. This grouping ability is rare as it’s accessible by very few characters, and only one other support in the form of Shorekeeper.

Because of how the Tower of Adversity fundamentally works, she finds herself usable in the niche of a grouping low investment support, which can sport constant, easy-access healing with the Originite: Type IV weapon. This niche is viable for the middle floors of the side towers of the Tower of Adversity’s Hazard Zone, often focused on AoE damage which Jianxin can help with greatly by grouping the small enemies often present. Due to the way the Tower’s energy system works, one team can be ran on all floors 2&3 of the side towers, while heavier-hitting teams can handle floors 1&4 and the middle tower in its entirety, which are significantly harder to clear. This makes Jianxin hold a viable meta niche. In this build, the 3 star Originite weapon requires her to do a single basic attack every 30 seconds to trigger the effect of the Rejuvenating Glow set, which can buff the ATK of all your party members while costing minimal field time. Energy Regen is the only necessary stat to build on your Jianxin, making her require very low investment allowing you to allocate those resources to your other, heavier-hitting teams, and enabling you to clear the middle floors of the tower swiftly and easily thanks to her grouping.

To summarize, Jianxin is a very comfortable character for the Overworld if you wish to invest in her - arguably one of the best Hybrids for that purpose thanks to the many roles she can fill. However, she is spread too thin and excels at none of the roles she tries to fit in a team, restricting her to being used either in the Overworld or as a low-investment grouping support in the Tower of Adversity, focusing on her Ultimate. While this renders Jianxin viable, she comes with some flaws that will need to be circled around.

Ratings

This tier list assesses characters based on their combat potential in Wuthering Waves current most demanding content Tower of Adversity (ToA). ToA is a mode similar to Genshin Impact’s Spiral Abyss or Honkai Star Rail’s Memory of Chaos and requires multiple teams, strong Echoes and good Weapons. This mode offers a reasonable mix of Boss encounters (single target), Elite packs (2-3 targets) and AoE scenarios (5+ Targets), allowing multiple characters to find a niche but in the end, there's a bias toward single target focused characters at the top-end.

Please keep in mind Wuthering Waves is a skill-based game and each character has a different playstyle, difficulty level and even special tricks and combos. Wuthering Waves is also a team based game and it's only by combining both these factors to the highest level a character can reach optimal performance.

Best Weapons
Support configuration

If you're playing Jianxin in the Support role, here is the Weapon you should use on her (so she can trigger the Rejuvenating Glow set):

1

Stats at Level 90: ATK: 300 | CRIT DMG: 40.5%

Gauntlets with the unique function of adding healing to a characters kit causing their Basic Attacks to restore a small amount of health to themselves with a cooldown of 3 seconds. The Gauntlets have bad combat stats and the heal would otherwise be considered terrible for most content but it allows characters to activate the incredibly powerful 5P Rejuvenating Glow set which requires healing to buff. This weapon should only be equipped when aiming to use the set on a character who could not otherwise heal.
DPS/Hybrid configuration

If you're playing Jianxin in the DPS/Hybrid roles, here's how much her damage output will be affected by the Weapons:

108.31%

Stats at Level 90: ATK: 587 | CRIT Rate: 24.3%

Xiangli Yao's signature and an ideal weapon for any Resonance Liberation based Gauntlet user. Grants a tremendous 24.3% CRIT RATE boost and 12% generic DMG% boost all permanently and on top of that also grants an incredibly convenient 48% Resonance Liberation DMG% lasting 8 seconds on use of the wearers Liberation. Due to the timing of when this buff activates, it is almost always up when you need it most and the duration can also be extended up to 3 times for 5 seconds each time whenever you use a resonance skill. This extends the total duration of this buff to a whopping 23 seconds.

100%

Stats at Level 90: ATK: 587 | ATK: 36.4%

One of the top Gauntlets options in game with the only competitors being 4★ Weapons with multiple dupes. Offers high base ATK, ATK%, a good amount of Energy Regen to save at least 1 sub-stat on gear to be reallocated to better uses and a conditional bonus boosting Resonance Skill damage and Basic Attacks that is very easy to satisfy.

85.60%

Stats at Level 90: ATK: 412 | CRIT Rate: 20.2%

Specialist Gauntlets for Resonance Liberation scaling users, thanks to its passive that grants increased Resonance Liberation DMG% after using a Resonance Skill. Still usable by characters who don't focus specifically on Liberation damage as a big part of their kit, thanks to the reasonably high base stats but more importantly CRIT RATE main stat.

84.90%

Stats at Level 90: ATK: 462 | ATK: 18.2%

Most often the best F2P 4* gauntlet option for DPS characters scaling off of ATK. The ATK% boost it provides when casting your Resonance Skill is great on most characters, and while the small energy generation it provides at the same time is more situational, it can be handy as well.

82.86%

Stats at Level 90: ATK: 412 | ATK: 30.3%

Strong generic option for all Gauntlets users, offering an ATK% and DEF% after using Resonance Liberation in the form of 3 charges. Since most characters include their Liberation in their rotation in the endgame you can expect this bonus to be applied quickly and consistently. Unfortunately, whenever you are hit you'll lose 1 charge so to use this weapon effectively, you must minimize how many times you're hit. Calculations assume you can maintain your rotation without getting hit - if you think you will be lower your expectations of this weapon and it's position in the ranking.
Best Echo Sets

Best Echo Sets show the best sets that support the main character playstyle and work out of the box while the Special Echo Sets either are situational, support an alternative playstyle or are targeted toward min-maxers. The percentage numbers showcase the relative DPS increase when you take into account the set bonus only. For some characters there's no DPS (or its equivalent) available and in that case we listed the sets in the order of priority.

Important! The 2.0 introduced quite a lot of new Echoes and we need more time to properly test out all of them (especially considering the past bugs related to them that made some stronger, some weaker). The builds below are provisional and we will be updating them over the next few days as we do our testing - so before you use all your stamina on the new Echoes, please have a bit of patience.

Best Echo Sets

1

2 Set: Energy Regen increases by 10%.

5 Set: Upon using Outro Skill, ATK of the next Resonator increases by 22.5% for 15s.

Offers a 10% unconditional Energy Regen% boost taking some pressure off your gear when aiming at ER breakpoints. Also upon using Outro, grants the next character switching in a 22.5% ATK boost, amplifying any of your main damage dealers burst windows.

Below you can find Main Echo options that you should be using with the set:

  • Echo Image
    Impermanence Heron
    - Supportive Echo that can be run at the cost of a sizeable chunk of damage for the character who equips, trading personal gain for team benefits. Should always be used and immediately switch cancelled right before performing an Outro, leading to another DPS. When done so will grant the next character switching in 12% increased DMG% which when combined with the 5P Moonlit set which also grants 22.5% ATK% under the same conditions makes for a sizeable boost. While the echo does lower the damage of whoever wears it, it grants a massive chunk of energy on use usually saving 1 or sometimes even 2 Energy Regen sub stats that may otherwise be needed by the wearer allowing for some damage to be recovered.

2

2 Set: Healing increases by 10%.

5 Set: Upon healing allies, increase ATK of the entire team by 15%, lasting 30s.

Offers a 10% unconditional Healing% boost and an most importantly a 15% ATK% boost for the entire team, lasting 30 seconds whenever you heal yourself or any of your allies. This bonus can be triggered by character abilities and weapon effects, is easy to keep active 100% of the time and is a big help for all party members.

Below you can find Main Echo options that you should be using with the set:

  • Echo Image
    Fallacy of No Return
    - Grants 10% increased Energy Regeneration for the wearer and a team wide 10% ATK boost on use for 20 seconds. A strong option for those looking to generate as much energy as possible or who favor a more permanent party buffing effect compared to Bell-Borne Geochelone.
  • Echo Image
    Bell-Borne Geochelone
    - While nowadays a worse option for the Rejuvenating Glow set for damage than the Fallacy of No Return due to a shorter buff uptime, only granting 10% DMG Bonus for 15 seconds, the Bell-Borne Geochelone remains a good choice if you don't have a good Fallacy to use for the set. It also has increased survivability by blocking 50% of the damage from a max of 3 hits if you desire to have that in your team.
Special Echo Sets

2 Set: Aero DMG increase by 10%.

5 Set: Upon using Intro Skill, Aero DMG increases by 30% for 15s.

Offers a 10% unconditional Aero DMG% boost and an additional 30% Aero DMG% after using the intro lasting 15 seconds for a grand total of 40% additional Aero damage for most of your damage window.

Below you can find Main Echo options that you should be using with the set:

  • Sentry Construct
    Nightmare: Feilian Beringal
    - Offers an unconditional 12% Aero DMG and 12% Heavy Attack DMG boost when placed in the Main Echo slot, making it a solid choice for Aero focused resonators who emphasize Heavy Attack damage and are looking to use the 5P Sierra Gale set bonus.
  • Echo Image
    Feilian Beringal
    - A great pure DPS echos in the game, capable of dealing good damage while also being swap cancelled and still granting its boosting effect. Use this echo in the warm-up phase just moments before you plan to enter your Main DPS burst window and swap cancel it after it performs its first punch (it will continue and use the follow-up even after you switch). After that trigger your Hybrid or Supports concerto and then swap back to your damage dealer to perform your rotation with the buff active.

Best Endgame Stats (Level 90)

Important! CRIT DMG has base value of 150% and Energy Regen has a base value of 100% when you check them in game. The recommended values below don't include the base value but rather show how much on top of it you need to obtain.

When played as a support, Jianxin does not require any specific stats outside of Energy Regen in order to perform well. We still recommend a baseline level of survivability but other stats can be selected and prioritized as you see fit.

  • HP: 18000+

  • DEF: 1100+

  • Energy Regen: 30-40%

    • When playing Jianxian as a support her Ultimate is a large part of the benefit she brings to the fight and to have it up in a timely manner we recommend a minimum of 30 - 40% Energy Regen rate.

    • This amount of ER will grant you an ultimate quickly but not on cooldown. If you want it faster, stacking even more is recommended - as a support it doesn't cost Jianxin much to dedicate more of her build toward this.

    • These recommendations are only for Support Jianxian and when playing DPS her energy needs will be different.

Rotation

Below you can find optimal rotation (or rotations) for Jianxin. The total time needed to perform it is 9.98 seconds. When selecting the rotations we prioritized achieving 100 Concerto as fast as possible and once that condition was fulfilled, we focused on maximizing the damage output. As or if new and more optimal rotations are found, we'll update the characters calculations as needed.

When playing Jianxin as a support focus on achieving the following in combat:

  • Keep your Resonance Skill on cooldown at all times, unless its usage interrupts use of other higher priority cooldowns or DPS burst windows.
  • Ensure to perform Basic Attacks throughout combat to keep 5P Rejuvenating Glow Set and Originite: Type IV bonus active at all times. These attacks also help in generating additional Concerto energy if aiming to trigger her Outro before character Swap.
  • Use her Echo as frequently as possible asides from saving it for usage just before a burst combo.
  • Always utilize Jianxin’s Ultimate to generate Concerto Energy and control enemies, aside from saving it to Group-Up enemies at specific point of combat.
  • If possible, aim to align Jianxin’s Outro with the main DPS burst combo (provided they benefit from Resonance Liberation damage) or the use of their Ultimate (provided it deals direct damage) when available.
  • Use her Forte Gauge as you deem fit, it will almost always result in overall damage loss, but sometimes the Shield and Concerto Energy generation is worth the tradeoff.

Additional information

The numbers below show the character's DPS (Damage Per Second) and DMG (total damage done). When selecting the rotations we prioritized achieving 100 Concerto as fast as possible and once that condition was fulfilled, we focused on maximizing the damage output. As or if new and more optimal rotations are found, we'll update the characters calculations as needed. Listed character calculations are done without buffs or any damage contribution from teammates (full solo). They only include what the character, their Weapon, Echo and gear are capable of during their ideal Burst or Concerto rotation when starting with their Intro and Resonance Liberation available.

Do note that DPS and DMG aren’t perfect metrics for a character’s individual value and should be taken with a grain of salt.Anything pertaining a character’s relevance in the meta is addressed in our Review and Tier List, which the numbers below shouldn’t be used for as an end-all-be-all to. Instead, DPS and DMG are good metrics for a character’s sequence value and comparison between an individual character’s different rotations. We recommend using those metrics for such purposes.
