Introduction
Performance Profile

ST Damage [3/5]

AoE Damage [2/5]

AP Efficiency [3/5]

Utility [4/5]

Selena can pursue a number of different playstyles, but as more characters have been released, one dominant one has emerged: Ravage Support.

This style involves Selena establishing a number of temporary buffs that allow her to launch coordinated attacks whenever her allies attack or after enemies are Ravaged, to deal damage.

In addition to this, the Ravage support build and therefore Selena is currently the only one that is able to replenish an enemy's Tenacity bar, allowing them to be ravaged/broken multiple times in one turn. This ability by itself makes Selena a meta contender, allowing her to trigger all Ravage effects multiple times per turn instead of only 1. This is especially powerful with Ravage-focused characters like Sereniel.

One quirk of Selena is that this playstyle isn’t really present at all in the base version of her cards and is only accessible through specific epiphanies.

Pros & Cons
Pros

  • The only character capable of replenishing enemy tenacity bars, giving her a unique niche in the meta.

  • With the right build, she attacks through her allies via coordinated attacks, and Mark, and doesn’t need to do so herself.

  • Has many different build paths and unique epiphanies, allowing for many potential builds now and in the future.

  • Can be played as a Ravage support, a Passion support, or a main damage dealer, even though some are stronger than others depending on the current meta.

  • Has options to be able to deal high direct Tenacity Damage and apply Passion Weakness.

  • Capable single-target potential with some solid AoE options if chosen via epiphanies.

Cons

  • Primary meta build requires specific epiphanies and isn’t functional based on base cards.

  • Most popular builds rely on allies to attack and use their cards in order for her to function in the team.

Ratings

The ratings below are based on the Season Save Data modes and the Chaos Manifestation mode. Each of the modes values different mechanics, so some characters may shine in one of the, while being underwhelming in the other.

T0.5

Season Save Data

T1.5

Chaos Mode

Key Mechanics
  • Mark: Mark is a stackable debuff that Selena can apply through a wide variety of her cards, forming the core of her kit. When an enemy is marked and an Attack card is used, Selena will fire an additional attack toward the marked target/s, dealing 100% ATK damage. To take advantage of this, Mark generation needs to be combined with high-frequency attacks to achieve the best results.
  • Break: The other mechanic core to Selena’s identity is break and tenacity damage. Many of Selena’s abilities cause her attacks and additional attacks to either inflict additional tenacity damage or increase the tenacity damage dealt by a %. Building on this, Selena also has abilities that provide additional benefit each time an enemy is broken, further incentivizing a high tenacity damage break playstyle.
  • Response: Triggers listed “Response” effect when drawn naturally or via card effect.
  • Break: A debuff that causes the enemy to be treated as though they are Passion weak for all combatant attacks while it remains active. It is duration-based, not hit-count-based.

Target Spotted

Selena’s other primary Mark generator, which functions very differently. Generates 1 Mark on 1 random enemy via its Response effect when drawn. Outside of this costs 1AP to use and deals a solid amount of damage, but nothing else. A solid card, as it doesn’t HAVE to be used in order to gain value while still being there as a hit to activate marks if Selena needs.

Sniper's Domain

Selena’s only upgrade baseline cost 0AP, is unique, and boosts Mark damage by +40%. A simple, strong damage multiplier for one of the largest portions of Selena’s damage.

Potentials

Selena’s Signature Potentials offer significant damage boosts as well as some additional functionality, making them a high priority to unlock.

  • 3-1: Causes Engagement Fire to deal Piercing Damage, which ignores enemy shields.
  • 5-1: Increases Engagement Fire’s damage multiplier by +5% with an additional +5% bonus granted if Bonus Additional Damage exceeds 15%.
  • 7: Increases Passion DMG% by +4% passively, with a further +4% increase unlocked if Bonus Additional Damage exceeds 30%.
Playstyle & Gameplay
Standard Playstyle

In Chaos, and when playing Selena as a damage dealer/sub dps, she is a mix of two playstyles: Additional Attacks via Mark and Break through her tenacity damage and Passion Weakness. You may choose to specialize in one more heavily than the other, but regardless of which you choose, Selena’s game plan remains the same. Establish buffs and marks, then trigger as many additional attacks as possible either through her own attacks or her teammates to unleash a barrage of high damage gunfire.

When playing Selena as more of a pure support, though using her most meta build, which only really functions for save data game modes, she is almost entirely dedicated to recovering enemy tenacity gauges in order to allow for multiple ravages per turn while also establishing temporary buffs that allow her to fire coordinated attacks based on the actions of her allies.

Memory Fragments

The Memory Fragments & Equipment suggestions below are based on calculations we did. If you want to check the damage formula and how scaling the damage works in CZN, check this guide.

Selena can be played as a sub DPS focusing on coordinated attacks, mark and ravage support, or as more of a Main DPS. Her supportive role is by far the more popular one, so in this guide, we’ll be focusing on that.

Recommended Loadout
1

[2-PC]: +25% Critical Damage.

[2-PC]: +12% Attack.

Flex

After the rework to 4P Spark of Passion, causing Mark and Coordinated attacks to consume stacks, the usual combo of 2/2/2 with Executioner's, Black Wing, and your choice of 2P Seth’s, 2P Cursed Corpse, or 2P Tetra’s / Healer’s is now Selena’s best memory fragment choice.

Other 4-PC Set
  • Set

    Spark of Passion [4-PC]

    - 4P Spark of Passion previously was a strong pick on Selena as Coordinated, and Mark Attacks did not consume stacks of this set's buff. However, after a rework of this set to change the effect to stacks being consumed every time the boost is applied, instead of every time an attack is used, it is no longer a competitive choice.
Main and sub-stats

In a lot of cases, flat sub-stats are better than percentage ones when it comes to HP, ATK and DEF. The reason behind this is that in CZN the characters stats are pretty low and you get more value from flat bonus rather than percentage one based on calcs.

Ideal
CRIT Rate > CRIT DMG > ATK%
Desire
Passion DMG > ATK%
Imagination

Substats:

Extra DMG% > Crit Rate% = Crit DMG% > ATK > ATK%

Partners

Our best Partner recommendation try to balance both the raw damage boost they provide based on our calculations with the additional utility provided by the skill - combined with how it interacts with the characters's kit. We have rated each partner based on how much additional damage and the utility they provide. Read the comments under each Partner to better understand our reasoning.

1
Damage 4/5
Utility 5/5

Passive - Financial Support

The assigned combatant's Extra Attack damage is increased by 10/20%.

When the assigned combatant uses an Upgrade or Skill card, 25/50% chance to gain 1 Morale for 1 turn.

Skill - Security team, requesting support! - 2 EP cost

Draw 1 Enhanced Card(s).

If there are no Enhance Cards in the Draw Pile, Draw 1 Card.

  • Max dupe Rosaria grants 20% (multiplicative) Extra Attack damage, and whenever the wearer uses a skill or upgrade 50% chance to grant the team 1 stack of Morale for one turn, stacking infinitely.
  • The unconditional boost to Extra Attack damage is nice, but the real value of this Partner is the chance at granting Morale, which, with endgame decks, Selena can heavily abuse.
  • The most popular Selena build (ravage support) plays a high amount of incredibly cheap skills, all of which now have a 50% chance to grant Morale to the team.
  • If that wasn’t enough, Rosaria’s Ego skill also draws an upgrade, which Selena usually plays a few of. For save-based content, Max/High dupe Rosaria is the best option for Selena due to its supportive capabilities.
2
Damage 3/5
Utility 3.5/5

Passive - Financial Support

The assigned combatant's Extra Attack damage is increased by 10/20%.

When the assigned combatant uses an Upgrade or Skill card, 25/50% chance to gain 1 Morale for 1 turn.

Skill - Security team, requesting support! - 2 EP cost

Draw 1 Enhanced Card(s).

If there are no Enhance Cards in the Draw Pile, Draw 1 Card.

  • Rosaria loses 10% Extra Damage and 25% chance to apply Morale when at base compared to max dupe, cutting her buffing and damage potential by a notable amount.
  • At Base, she retains her upgrade draw potential and is still Selena’s best option, albeit just a bit weaker than max dupe. One copy of Rosaria can be obtained for free from the Zeronium shop, meaning everyone should be able to get her.
Equipment

The equipment recommendations are based on items obtainable in Season 1’s Chaos - Laboratory 0. If you’re running content outside of Season 1, it’s possible some options may not be available for acquisition, or that other options not obtainable in Lab 0 may be better.

Comments - Weapons
  1. Equipment
    Tentacles of Chaos
    - Grants 8% combat attack to the whole team; this is a very rare stat only found on partners and equipment. When playing Selena as a sub DPS, it’s almost always more optimal to boost your whole team's damage instead of Selena’s alone. In most cases, this means Tentacles of Chaos is Selena’s best weapon option.
  2. Equipment
    Intellect of Discord
    - If you’re not offered Tentacles of Chaos, Intellect of Discord is her best personal damage boost in most cases, thanks to the huge 18% combat attack it grants, which allows it to outperform other options when playing her in teams that have sufficient card damage buffs from other sources.
  3. Equipment
    Mutant Predator Spike
    - Selena’s next best personal damage option is usually Mutant Predator Spike, but only if you can consistently keep it active. It grants +30% (multiplicative) damage to all damage while holding 4 or more cards in hand. If you can’t maintain 4+ cards in hand most of the fight, it usually loses out to the option below.
  4. Equipment
    Second Method
    - A far more consistent damage option for Selena. Grants +35% (additive) Extra Attack damage, boosting all her Mark and Coordinated attack damage, which, when played as a support, makes up the majority of her total damage output.
  5. Equipment
    Obsidian Sword
    - Adds 12% (multiplicative) damage to all of Selena’s damaging abilities. Not as good as any of the options above, but better than nothing if you can’t get them.
Comments - Armor
  1. Equipment
    Wings of Freedom
    - Best damage Armor option for Selena in Season 1 in Lab-0. Every time the team is hit, it grants her a stacking 10% (multiplicative) damage boost for the rest of the fight, up to 3 stacks (30%). While strong for damage, it comes at the cost of giving up some very powerful supportive options.
  2. Equipment
    Fragment of the Empty Void
    - If you don’t want to trade damage for support and haven’t already got a Unique equipment, Fragment of the Empty Void is an alternative choice, allowing up to 3 cards in your opening hand to be redrawn.
  3. Equipment
    Rocket-Adorned Cape
    - If neither of the options above is available, Rocket-Adorned Cape is also a solid choice, giving you an extra draw at the start of combat and also 1 damage reduction stack. Depending on your needs, the extra draw can sometimes outperform the re-draw from Fragment.
Comments - Trinkets
  1. Equipment
    Emblem of an Exceptional Entity
    - A +30% (additive) bonus to all abilities, making it the best consistent option for Selena if you’re looking for raw damage
  2. Equipment
    Amorphous Cube
    - Slightly worse than Emblem, but far easier to get boosting damage by +25% (additive) instead of 30%.
  3. Equipment
    Superconductive Protein
    - If you want to take your Selena in a more supportive direction, Superconductive Protein can be used to gain additional momentum for the wearer and their team on turn 1 by discounting one card in your opening hand to 0.
  4. Equipment
    Source of the Forbidden
    - When hit, inflicts either Vulnerable, Weaken, or Impair randomly to the attacker up to 3 times per turn. Having two of this equipment doesn’t let you inflict 2 debuffs per enemy attack, though. Having one of these pieces of equipment on your team is good, but due to the limits of stacking multiple, it’s not a must on a semi-dps character like Selena.

Deck & Teams

Recommended Build
Important!

CZN is a game of randomness; sometimes you’ll be offered generic or Divine epiphanies that are stronger than a character's standard five options. In these cases, breaking the listed build can result in an even more powerful save. Adjust as you see fit!

Build Comments

Selena has multiple different build paths, but the most meta-relevant by a long shot is her Ravage Support build, which is used alongside Sereniel. Due to the overwhelming dominance of this build type compared to the others, we’ll be focusing on it in the guide below.

Card Removal Priority
  • Emergency Shielding
    - First priority to be removed in all endgame Selena decks.
  • Engagement Fire
    - When playing Selena in a sub-dps or supportive role, her basics can safely be removed as the next priority. If you plan to play Selena more actively, though, they can be kept in the deck.
Card Dupe Priority
Dupe Priority

Tactical Maneuver IV
>
High-Power Scope IV
>
Target Spotted V

The Ravage Support Selena build has one main dupe priority, and that’s

Tactical Maneuver IV
. The main goal of this build is to refresh enemy tenacity bars as many times as possible, and Tactical IV is the only card that does that. If it’s not offered, though,
High-Power Scope IV
or
Target Spotted V
can optionally be duplicated instead for higher damage output.

Epiphany Alternatives
  • High-Power Scope
    -
    High-Power Scope IV
allows Selena to deal damage every time an ally attacks, allowing her to contribute quite a lot, especially alongside teammates that generate a lot of low-cost attacks like Sereniel or Cassius. But alternatively, you can run
    High-Power Scope V
, giving up the majority of that damage in exchange for thinning the deck by 1.
Best Synergies
Best Teams
Important!

If you’re losing runs when playing a damage-focused composition either to sanity or dying, consider using a team with more defensive characters - so including both a shielder and healer. This is especially important in the Zero System mode.
